Hegseth intends to rename USNS Harvey Milk

This is the kind of stuff you spend all of your time on if you don't have a clue how to actually govern and run a country. Also it keeps their minions distracted so they don't notice how their lives keep getting worse. A trend that interestingly enough started around the time they started to replace real news with the likes of Fox and Limbaugh. Also it distracts them from realizing that they are the true RINOs.

United States Naval Ships are different from regular navy ships with the prefix USS. USNS ships are non-commissioned, carry civilian crews and have different rules as to how they are named. ZERO requirement of either Navy service or any military service and subjects frequently have zero connection with the Navy.

The Navy historically has named ships to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the nation, the Navy, or maritime history. What did Harvey Milk do to earn this designation over other warriors?

That you might not agree with his political significance and activism isnt the point. The point is he completely fits the naming criteria of that group of ships. And I'd guess that's a solid reason they chose to use such criteria for a group of ships...to remind people of the significance of public service and efforts for change and equality.

No surprise there that an unfortunate number of Americans dont believe in that. Women, blacks, gays, etc. shoulda all stayed at the back of the bus.

The U.S. Navy named a ship after Harvey Milk, a civil rights icon, to honor his service as a Navy veteran and his advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights. Milk was one of the first openly gay elected officials in the United States, and the ship was part of a larger initiative to name vessels in the John Lewis-class after civil rights leaders.

He is a civil rights figure.

The class of ships is the John Lewis class. A huge civil rights figure.

They made a decision to name ships in this class after civil rights figures.

These are refueling ships… rather low on the totem pole for culture war bullshit.

Why would any of this matter to a MAGA like @trixare4kids? She’s been issued her talking points and nothing will shake her conviction from this point onward. Civil rights is just some woke thing to her, and if Donald told her that women shouldn’t be allowed to vote because they are mentally not up to it, she’d be the first in line to praise his clarity of sight. So, obviously the basic concept of honoring civil rights leaders in any facet of life is going to be completely foreign to her and her fellow MAGA.

Remember, when they rename the Harriet Tubman she’ll be right back here hawking the same exact schlock.

Of course it's more than that to update data bases, signs, etc

Yeah, I agree. It’s stupid. The same thing with renaming the bases back. Congress made its intent clear. What the Trump Administration did may be clever, but it did not abide by that intent.
