Commanders of Hamas’ armed wing were weighing whether to perpetrate attacks against United States targets in the Middle East, it was reported in Time magazine Saturday.

According to the report, Hamas commanders held clandestine meetings in the Gaza Strip and in West Bank to discuss the possibility of targeting the United States due to their policies against Hamas and their support for Israel.

A commander of the armed wing told Time, “The US has become very hostile to the Palestinians. We shouldn't stand by idly while the Americans are plotting against us." He noted that Hamas chiefs felt their patience with the United States had run out and that it was time to take action against it.

Israeli military sources told Time that they were aware of the debate in Hamas over whether to strike US targets. An IDF official explained that up until now, Hamas has apparently held the view that they have one enemy – Israel, and they would leave fight the US up to insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan.

But such restraint might collapse if Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas moves to dismantle the government in the coming weeks.

Just last Wednesday, gunmen kidnapped American national Michael Leighton Phillips, in his 20s, in Nablus. He was held hostage for 28 hours until he was released when dozens of gunmen from the al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, Fatah’s armed wing, raided the site where he was being held.

The Fatah operatives said they view the kidnapping as “harmful to Palestinian interests” and therefore made sure the American hostage was freed. The group that took responsibility for the kidnapping is known to be active in Iraq and is closely identified with al-Qaeda. Members of the terror group faxed a message to news agencies with a grainy photograph of Phillips’ passport and student card to announce his capture, and later demanded Israel free security prisoners in return for Phillips release.

Additionally, Hamas extremists are enraged over the United States support for Abbas, especially their apparently generous fiscal support. On Friday, US governmental officials told Reuters that the US had started a campaign projected to cost up to USD 42 million to bolster Hamas' political opponents ahead of possible early Palestinian elections.

The news was also reported in the Palestinian media, which noted that the US was funding Fatah with millions of dollars, aimed at strengthening Fatah’s command.

According to the reports, the United States Consulate in Jerusalem had already given USD 15 million towards boosting Fatah. It was noted that of that sum, USD 650,000 were allotted for children’s summer camps.

Senior Fatah officials vehemently denied the reports.

Meh. True or not, it's an easy forecast simply by reviewing history...

Attacking American interests in the Middle East was one of the purposes of Hezbollah over two decades ago. Khomeini, angered at the fact that American support disallowed his throw-back Islamic vision to be relaized and not possessing the power to cause any harm to us, he did what the rest do. He created an organization to simply act as a thorn to rally hate and create an illusion of a "holy purpose."

It's amazing how organizations like Hamas haven't taken on this mission sooner (even though it would upset their Arab masters who support the Palestinian apocalyptic mission while accepting our money for oil as we support Israel...whew). These types of organizations are focused and don't possess the ability to cause larger damage to America like the Al-Quedas of Islam do. But even Al-Queda's damage to America was nothing compared to our robust society's habits to face forward. By the next day, Americans all over the country returned to work and withdrew back into routine.

No, this is simply more of the same that we have grown accustomed to. People who have nothing and have no futures need purpose. In fundamental religious civilizations, zealots are more than prepared to seek power and control others through a purpose they prescribe.

There is no logic that would support their ever defeating America. However, as long as they are convinced that "Allah" will see them to victory, they will continue to perform the acts that rally so much of the programmed hate and blame throughout the region. In doing so, they encourage Radical control and ensure another generation adheres to the brutal pasages that trump the peaceful ones. Of course, many prefer to state that it is our retaliation that encourages the next generation's hate and blame, but that's just nonsense. That is the sentiment of all those that are ignorant of the Middle East and prefer a quick easy to understand answer. This would be the same element that will declare this "War on Terror" is lost when our soil is inevitably attacked again - and it will happen again.

If Hamas were to make so foolish a choice, it would surely end badly for them. They must know that attacking U.S. interests in the middle east will result in that terrorist infested, 3rd world shithole, they call a country, being hit by both American and Israeli forces in such a manner that they will never again have the means to commit such an act.

If Hamas attacks us, it will be the worst mistake of their lives. They ought to know by now that America is not a superpower for no reason.

As is typical for many Arab ME regimes, Hamas needs a scapegoat diversion from their colossal internal failures.

[reporter]: People aren't getting their work money, what do you have to say about this?

[Hamas lawmaker]: Its America's fault!

Well, if Hamas attacks the U.S., does that mean Israel retaliates by attacking France?

Then France would surrender and Israel would have another country full of muslims that don't like them... Least they could get france to produce record number of goods and equipment for any type of military action they might run in to.
