Halftime "show"

My former profession (Many years ago) was sound engineering. Did many-a shows and quite a bit of studio stuff. Having said that. WHAT THE F*CK WAS THAT?
The sound=horrible Song=Suckola Who did the engineering? Bozo the Clown?
In short> All show and no go. Christ, the Processing of the voice was almost as lousy as the Auto-Tune settings. What a disgrace to the Industry.

THANK YOU!

If people don't know who The Weeknd is, I assume they also don't know who Bruno Mars is. Their music is kind of the same category but The Weeknd is really dark sometimes. Bruno's music has been out longer, but Bruno fans would know The Weeknd.

My now departed friend Aaron Neely (aka "Smokey Shadows") worked for Bruno doing his wardrobe.
I really like Bruno's music a lot, and not just because of Smokey, he's just very talented and I like most of his songs.
Sorry, I cannot put "The Weekend" into the same category or quality level as Bruno.

I would guess you have heard Bruno Mars before. His lyrics and videos are always cute and funny. Love him.

I live deep in rural Maine with a country station, a hate radio station, and a popular old songs station that plays nothing less than twenty years old. I played your Bruno Mars vid--and no, I've never heard of him before.

That photo is amazing! Thank you for sharing this and your story. I think Bruno has a great smile. I assume he is nice in person. Your friend did a good job, because Bruno is always dressed great. Your friend's style is great too. I am sorry you lost him.

The Weeknd's music is different from Bruno's, but they are sort of in the same category of style. Does that make sense? Bruno seems like a more cheerful person than Weeknd. His music is timeless. The Weeknd is dark, sings about drugs, serial killers, etc. Kids can listen to Bruno Mars but not The Weeknd. I think they are both talented. I actually do like both of them, but Bruno is way cooler. If I could pick which one to meet, I would pick Bruno.

I thought that it was pretty good. I'm not that familiar with the artist, but I didn't see anything wrong with the show.

I walked away at halftime, but my kid said she was going to watch because she wanted to see the results of the Weeknd's cosmetic surgery. Does anybody know about that?

Y’all weren’t the target audience, boomers......
Yes. Turn off the long time loyal audience. Smart move when the younger audience is on their cellphones yakin' on facebook.

The weeknd does have a Bruno Mars vibe going on there.

I'd be surprised if most people aren't familiar with at least one Bruno song. (possibly not knowing where it has originated from, they just know the tune..)

Grenade immediately springs to mind.

They needed to turn his mic up, from what I was hearing. The music was drowning out him singing.
The NFL admitted years ago, after Bruno Mar's lip sync fiasco, that the halftime show was mostly pre-recorded music. There is too much that can go wrong with a live show on a stage set up in minutes to risk sound problems.

I just looked this up to see who the targeted audience is for Super Bowl advertisers. The largest Super Bowl viewer group of 30% are people 45 - 65. Boomers are in the 55 - 73 year range currently so in terms of age demographics boomers would be targeted by advertisers. Boomers also still have the largest average income so would be targeted for that reason.

Lexus and Cadillac ran a lot of ads. (kudos to Cadillac for the Chalamet Edgar Scissorhands ad, very well done). Boomers can afford those cars.

I was going to bring up the ads as well, but the .topic of this thread was the “show.”

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that the show was geared to a much younger segment of the audience.

As far as the ads, nothing that I saw, (didn’t see them all,) stood out. No Anheuser-Busch Clydesdales.........

I realize the topic is the show, but it, like the ads, will focus on the group that's watching.

A lot of the heavy hitters sat out this Super Bowl. The Cadillac Scissorhands ad can be seen here.

No, but my daughter commented on how he didn't look as weird as he usually does. Don't know anything about him though.

I liked the Jeep ad.

I don't expect you to give the town you live in, but name a town near there. I'm curious. Most of my relatives live in rural Maine.

I'm Downeast.

That has to be the worst halftime show ever. I understand that it wasn't the production that past shows have been but that was a disgrace.

Maybe next year they'll wake up and have a great act again. I have to go back and watch the Prince halftime show to get last night's embarrassment out of my brain.
