How about making "an outstanding contribution to the State of Israel or to humanity, through their talents, services, or in any other form?"

Looking at the reward's history, Obama seems to not be the first to do nothing for the reward. It's only a year old, and already its been given to people who did nothing to deserve it, such as a famous musician in Israel.

I do watch fox a lot. Both sides of every issue on Fox is 1/2 the time on the subject how great the Republicans are, and the other half the time about how bad Democrats are. Fair and balanced, there ya go. Seriously, I watch it a lot, and that is, at least how it seems to me. Fox is the only time I ever heard of Obama's Katrina. Romney won the election...and on and on.

It's ridiculous. We do this with senior foreign military officers as well. I am often asked to vet foreign General officers for the Legion of Merit. And we award them. It is all political. One time I had the Minister of Defense of a foreign nation (an equivalent 4 star in a nation that will remain nameless), who was visiting the US ask to receive the Congressional Medal of Honor during his visit. I finally had the satisfaction of saying that was a line the US Government wouldn't cross. The Presidential Medal of Freedom should be treated with the same respect. It isn't.

I'd say you must be right about it being political. Two major networks and consequent live feeds during the ceremony and Fox News carrying an ad for Hannity's discussion "Israel's Enemies Are Growing?" In the era from which I came if the president of the U S was on foreign soil it was a big deal. When John Kennedy was assassinated all prime contractors and government workers were given holiday status until he was buried. Actually I still think Nixon and GHW Bush being in Dallas that day was no casual coincidence.

They prolly gave the medal to Obama because Reagan, during his two terms, NEVER went to Israel. And Bush I never went there when he was president either. Bush II only went there at the end of his last term and he didn't seem to happy about it.

The president traveled to Israel three times. Once as a state senator in Illinois, once as a presidential candidate in 2008 and this trip. It doesn't really make much difference what he does the right will crucify him with a load of made-up bull**** every time.

What the right will never admit is that Bill Clinton is the only individual since biblical times to settle the violence down for a while in that region of the world.

If somebody wants to be honest and evaluate facts they should look at Reagan's first term when 241 marines were murdered in the Beirut Barracks Bombing. Even after the exact coordinates of the location of the terrorists was handed to him he ordered that all our troops pull out of the country. If he had taken a strong stand at that time this would more than likely be a different world.

As a matter of fact if you include O'Reilly, Hannity and Fox and Friends I watch Fox more than the others combined. I always watch Imus and the financial channel in addition to the other programs. It never ceases to amaze me how they contort the facts. That's not true of Imus.....he tells it the way he sees it no matter who gets offended......even his wife.
