On a seperate point the 'war' has not ended and many have been released. What was the case behind these prisoners release? There are obviously many cases upon which detainees can de released.

Because they are not uniformed combatents and, therefore do not fall under the Geneva Convention.

Things like participaing in terrorism carry with them their own rewards.

This is bullshit! The GC apply to anyone who is detained. Anyone!
