Well yeah. We're talking about her friends so why wouldn't she object to any news focusing on White Supremacists? imo. Seriously, when killings are based on hate crimes, why not call it like it is? Why try and put up a protective wall around White Supremacy, MTG??

Greene was referring to Democratic New York Representative Jerrold Nadler's remarks on the House floor on May 18 where he called for a stricter response to hate crimes.

"I want to use my time to point out what these three cases have in common: the gunman in each case was a white man, each angry about so-called 'replacement theory,' each traveling some distance to target a minority community, each hoping to terrorize that community through mass murder," said Nadler who serves as the House Judiciary Committee chairman.

"These people are all guilty of these crimes and it's not about race," she said. "It shouldn't be about race. But they're clearly racist as well."

MTG was obviously wrong about racism and hate not being the motive for the Buffalo mass shooting, but Nadler was wrong about connecting it to ‘replacement theory’ which is specific bigotry against Jewish folks and (non-white) immigrants ‘replacing’ white (non-Jewish) folks as the majority demographic in the US.

There is no expectation that the percentage of the US black population will increase from its current level of 13.4%. The projected growth in the non-white US population will be mostly from immigration increasing the Hispanic and Asian populations.

By 2050, the nation’s racial and ethnic mix will look quite different than it does now. Non-Hispanic whites, who made up 67% of the population in 2005, will be 47% in 2050. Hispanics will rise from 14% of the population in 2005 to 29% in 2050. Blacks were 13% of the population in 2005 and will be roughly the same proportion in 2050. Asians, who were 5% of the population in 2005, will be 9% in 2050.

In 2021, the U.S. population expanded at its slowest rate in history, and for the first time, the majority of its population growth came from immigration. So, despite four years of former President Donald Trump’s policies limiting the admission of foreigners, the United States is on track to reach its anticipated 2044 “majority minority” milestone: the moment when the majority ethnic group, non-Hispanic white people, becomes one of multiple minorities.

The shooter specifically referred to the replacement conspiracy.

No he wasn't. The person who coined the name "replacement theory" did not name Jews as the culprit.

Well, of course the Republicans are insecure about their racism. In other news, Donald trump is fat.

What an ill-informed and idiotic post. "Replacement theory" was all over the kid's manifesto.

You raise an excellent point. If the shooter mentions several things, that itself is grounds to dismiss any one of them. Outstanding debate logic.

He specifically targeted black folks for execution with no regard for their immigration status or religion. That is certainly related to white supremacy, white nationalism and racism, but has little or nothing to do with immigration or anti-semitism. He chose Buffalo because it remains a very racially segregated city with a large black population - not because it has a large immigrant or Jewish population.

What is the "great replacement"?

In short, the "great replacement" is a conspiracy theory that states that nonwhite individuals are being brought into the United States and other Western countries to "replace" white voters to achieve a political agenda. It is often touted by anti-immigration groups, white supremacists and others, according to the National Immigration Forum.

White supremacists argue that the influx of immigrants, people of color more specifically, will lead to the extinction of the white race.

Payton Gendron, the 18-year-old white male accused of killing 10 people and wounding another three in Buffalo, allegedly said in his screed that the decrease in white birth rates equates to a genocide.

The alleged supermarket shooter and other extremists claim the U.S. has to close its borders to immigrants.

You may be wrong in the long term if Roe is overturned. If young black & minority girls are refused abortions, obviously that will increase their population.

That just goes to show you how good republicans are at talking out of both sides of their mouths.

It's part of a repetitious pattern: mischaracterize a term to make a point. It's the strawman logical fallacy.

I've pointed this out, also repeatedly, that "Replacement theory" is merely the latest iteration of a centuries-long argument put forth by white supremacists. It's fairly easy to trace its roots and pattern throughout US history, from the 3/5ths compromise through Dred Scott, the Civil War, Jim Crow, the Exclusionary Acts, the Civil Rights acts, to today and Trumpism.

You may be wrong in the long term...
He's wrong now. I have no idea what data the claim is based on, but it does not follow demographic trends. Moreover, it's beside the replacement point. The "white" population is dwindling, period. That's what has supremacists, literally, up in arms.

I laugh in your general direction... even your cite doesn't support your assertion. Get your "white supremacist theories" straight, my friend. Next let's discuss phrenology and eugenics.

trump and authoritarian enthusiasts will always trot out the defense - "I'm not racist, you're racist" when they're caught being racist.

I’m not saying that white supremacy or white nationalism is a good idea - it is clearly racist, bigoted and divisive garbage. I am simply saying that US demographic (racial and ethnic) changes are occurring and have been since this nation was formed.

I'm not saying you're supporting them at all, I am suggesting what you ended with - "US demographic (racial and ethnic) changes are occurring and have been since this nation was formed" - and it has always been the project of "white superiorists" to keep ahead of these changes, whatever their source, to "prove" that whites are the "superior race" and should remain in charge. They've used religion, pseudo-science, and politics as excuses - really anything they can come up with - to do so, but the motivation has always remained the same. The theories, labels and methods may change, but the underlying motivation is a constant. I find it horrifyingly amusing when they think they are being subtle. MTG is about a subtle as an air horn.

Yep, bigotry has existed in various forms. Bigotry is a tool of the ignorant to try to artificially elevate their own social status, not by doing or saying anything of merit, but by simply declaring others as being beneath them. Racism is simply a form of bigotry and bullying which should not be tolerated.

There is no question that the Buffalo shooter was both a racist and a terrorist, and should have been allowed, no Encouraged, to shoot himself. Trying him is a waste of money and will only allow him a forum to spew his venom.

HOWEVER, where was Nadler, the rest of the chatting class, and the Manhattan Media in denouncing the racism of the Brooklyn subway shooter, who shot only Non-Blacks, after railing against whites and everyone else not Black? The media did not even mention the race of his victims. I had to get it from looking at the photos of them being treated on the subway platform. I read about a dozen articles. Not one of them mentioned the race of the victims. The coverage was primarily of the "must have been mental illness" variety. The only difference I see between the shooters was that the Buffalo shooter was a more competent terrorist.

Greene, like most Republicans who either echo her sentiment or say nothing about it at all, are simply playing to their racist base.

You have to cherry pick all the subway shooter's crazy rants to find the racism. He seemed to have many other issues.
