I don’t accept the argument that revoking the laws allowing Disney to basically set up local governments owned by them and pay taxes to themselves while zoning competing businesses away from the park. It is socialism in Anaheim, California because Disney doesn’t control the city and can’t use zoning and local government powers to prevent competition?I never have thought of Florida as a battle ground state, but consistently going right for decades now. It comes as no shock to me that DeSantis won.
And in a very real way, I feel bad for the state: they got a guy who has done the things that they afraid of…and they don’t know it.
With the whole Disney debacle, he proved to be a socialist. With wokeness, he simply switched the POV and became the grand vizier of conservative wokeness. With freedoms, he has been taking them away in the name of freedom. He used cancel culture…something the right professes to hate…to cancel the naysayers.
But hey, you get what you vote for, right? In this case the state of Florida has made their fears come true…and they will soon realize it….
