If the Senate refuses to pass the budget sent by the House, then it is the Democrats shutting down the government, not the Republicans.
Everybody keeps calling the guys in congress idiots, and that could be the furthest from the truth. They are in fact very desperate men looking for someway out and there isn't one. They are very screwed men to be honest. Because on one side they have the establishment telling them to go ahead and pass the bill and on the other they have the likes of me who donate quite a bit of money telling them if they do anything other than defund Obamanocare we will cut their nuts off and fund their democratic rival. That is if we don't hang them from a lamppost. Believe me the poor sorry bastards are very unhappy.
Yes? No? How long?
Yes? No? How long?
I say no.The republicans will puss out.
They'll push it as far as they can but there's only so much they can do - this is already law - defunding a law is not easy especially one as large as this with a split ideological Congress. Strategically Republicans should fund this and take the fight into the debt ceiling where they have a better chance at giving Democrats more heartburn than on this issue.
Don't the Democrats need to raise the debt limit in order to fund ObamaCare?
As I understand it, yes they do. However my point was simply that Republicans cannot fight against a straight forward funding of a law that's already been passed and upheld by the SCOTUS. In my opinion, they're simply causing as much havoc as possible given the law has been and continues to be unpopular, but there's only so far they can go. They can and should continue to peck away at the debt ceiling since it include ObamaCare and hundreds of other items that could be cut and some probably should be. Continue to peck away at increased spending, continue the fight on the debt ceiling and hitting the public over the head with the amount of debt future generations will be required to pay back. The fight against ObamaCare won't go away with passing a spending bill this week - it will continue to be the main rotten apple threatening to rotten the rest of the barrel.
I agree. However, as I understand, neither OC nor the debt limit are negotiable in the eyes of the POTUS and Senate Dems.
Probably so - yet the only way Republicans have a chance at unseating some Senate seats in 2014 will be to continue to pound on things like ObamaCare and the debt ceiling which I believe public polls show have a majority of people firmly on Republicans side:
Poll: 44 percent of Americans oppose raising debt ceiling - First Read
If Republicans can stay on game by focusing primarily on economic issues and not be distracted by social issues - they will gain seats in 2014. All this political back and forth is an attempt to frame the 2014 mid term elections.
In the mean time, many of us suffer the financial consequences.

Sorry, but that would be impossible. The President was very clear that Obamacare would not add a single dime to the debt.
If you have a Federal job which is non-essential, it's the risk you take. Suffering? Like what.... bloated children with fly's buzzing around their eyes type suffering or having to skip the large mocha-latte at starbucks for a few days type suffering?
401 suffering... for one. Vendors, sub-contractors and such who live pay check to pay check who can't afford a pause in their payments.
The sort of things that can send people to the poor house.
That's all.
That's not suffering. And let's not forget those vendors and sub-contractors many of which are unionized will simply go back to their unions and go to a different work site during the shut down. Those who are not unionized can still take on work at other locations. Should a shut down occur for a long period of time, these vendors and sub-contractors can apply for state run unemployment which will still be working and in effect... no suffering will occur.
Hyperbole in one direction does not excuse hyperbole in another. Even in the creative destruction of the marketplace there is suffering. Job loss isn't pleasant.
