Gov McDonnel (R) Flip-Flops on Debt Ceiling-Learns His States Credit Rating at risk

Re: Gov McDonnel (R) Flip-Flops on Debt Ceiling-Learns His States Credit Rating at ri

Do you really think they read beyond the headline?

LOL. Sorry, thanks, for some reason I got a good laugh here. (not at you). Excellent point.

Re: Gov McDonnel (R) Flip-Flops on Debt Ceiling-Learns His States Credit Rating at ri

Actually, it was the republicans who spent like drunken sailors on leave when they controlled the White house. the senate and the house. The TSA, HSA, Medicare D, the bloated pork-laden Farm, Energy and Transportation bills, etc...

I know, I know...Obama made them do it!!!

What does that have to do with this raise? This is Obama's second raise so what the GOP did has little to do with this. This is because of Obama spending

Re: Gov McDonnel (R) Flip-Flops on Debt Ceiling-Learns His States Credit Rating at ri

Retiree's expected to live off their savings. There is no doing that getting .5% interest. And no, I do not blame them for not wanting to risk their life savings into the corrupt markets.

Don't forget according to Obama the cost of living has not increased so Obama has not ginen any SS increase

Re: Gov McDonnel (R) Flip-Flops on Debt Ceiling-Learns His States Credit Rating at ri

Yes, elected officials have no call stating their opinions; That's a job reserved to Reason Magazine!!

He can give his opinion all he wants but it means about as much as mine.

Of course the other two dozen times the repubs raised the ceiling has NOTHING to do with their opposition to raising the ceiling now

Those happened when a repub was president. IOKIYAR

But, but, but...I thought you said he has no place telling congress what to do!!

it is not his place to tell congress what to do

Doesn't he know that only Reason magazine can do that?

GOP Gov. McDonnell Flip-Flops On Debt Ceiling After Learning His State’s Credit Rating Is At Risk | ThinkProgress

So much for republican principles. The only one they have is to do and say whatever is convenient at the moment

The point is valid..

McDonnell position has systematically maintained "My way for the Highway..no compromise no negotiations" But now....."compromise" is need and a necessity when he stands to lose something...that is one hypocrisy

McDonnell has also been bitching about how the Federal government is intrusive and constantly interfering with the states rights and blah, blah, blahhh...He has hand out and mouth open for the Evil "Federal Money" and god forbid if something should hinder or delay the pay day!

Hold the Rhetoric until we all get paid, then we can continue Washington and Obama bashing, seems to be word of the day for the Governor.

That is hypocrisy of the worst kind, and has nothing to do with all of sudden reaching some zen state and realizing you were wrong or the epiphany that playing with debt limit for a political gain can have some serious consequences in real time. This is deception in its lowest form!

Re: Gov McDonnel (R) Flip-Flops on Debt Ceiling-Learns His States Credit Rating at ri

Obama has admitted that his opposition was politically motivated. At least he was honest for one moment

McConnel acts as if his position hasn't changed. Rightwingers can't ever admit to making a mistake. bush* couldn't think of one mistake he made as president

Obama said he was "just" a senator at the time and was playing partisan politics but now that he is a "big boy" and responsible for the fate of the nation he has changed his stance. So Obama changing his position is understandable and acceptable, but if a Republican does it he or she disavows principle. The detestable and appalling hypocrisy from liberals never seems to amaze me.

Yes, for a moment, Obama was honest and admitting he was putting politics before the good of the nation. Too bad McConnel will never be so honest for even just one moment. McConnell changes his position, and not only will he not admit that he was playing politics, he won't even admit that he has changed his opinion

The hypocrisy and twisting of the rightwing never amazes me. I learned to expect it a long time ago

Re: Gov McDonnel (R) Flip-Flops on Debt Ceiling-Learns His States Credit Rating at ri

I swear our government cares more about bi-partisan pride than actually doing good for the nation... we're boned because neither side can get over who has the "better plan". Just make one that works and be done with it!! Who cares who's idea it is, as long as **** gets done!

I'm guessing you meant "partisan pride." That would make a bit more sense.

You get my point. If they spent as much time actually coming up with a plan that they do arguing over who has better political ideals, this nation would not be in near the trouble that it is in.

You've been blaming Bush since you first heard of his name, and are still doing it. So don't sit there laughing at me. You people are the famous INHERITORS of everything. No doubt if there were another five Democrat presidents it would still be Bush's fault. Democrats are the most irresponsible people to ever live. Sure Bush did some spending that I didn't like, but he hardly controlled the Congress when the Republican controlled by like a single seat in the Senate. Not anything close to the three digit margins the Dems enjoyed in the House for 40 years from 1954 to 1994 when they installed or jacked up every socialist spending program (social security and welfare) that takes up over half the budget now.

I say we put the unemployment budget into the defense budget. You need a job?? Do something useful for the country and join the military. Too injured or too old? There's disability and social security for that.
Of course I could be (and probably am) missing something, but I'm sure the bleeding heart libs will find it for me so I can perfect my theory :)

PolitiFact | Obama regrets 2006 vote against raising the debt limit

The votes -- there have been 10 since 2001 -- are famous for political posturing, and President Barack Obama is no exception. Back in 2006, he joined with other Senate Democrats to vote against raising the debt limit, a measure supported by President George W. Bush.

Obama was not honest he got caught and had to justify it.

Re: Gov McDonnel (R) Flip-Flops on Debt Ceiling-Learns His States Credit Rating at ri

Obama was not honest he got caught and had to justify it.

Not only that but when Obama admitted he was playing politics in 2006 he implied Republicans are only playing political games with the debt now. Additionally, since Obama admitted his error in 2006 he has washed his hands of his mistake and been forgiven by Democrats. On the other hand, Republicans are blamed and at fault for doing the same thing he did. What hypocrites.

Hopefully he "washed his hands, sealed his fate."

I think it is naive to expect a politician to be honest, regardless of party. Your mileage may vary

I will post as I choose, when I choose, however I choose. The only limitation on this are the rules of this board

The righties have been blaming Obama since they first heard of his name, and are still doing it. The right is an infamous of thieves and their minions. No doubt if there were another five repub presidents it would still be Obamas' fault. Rightwingers are the most irresponsible and delusional people to ever live. Sure Obama did some spending that I didn't like, but he hardly controlled the Congress when the do-nothing Republicans obstructed anything that would help this economy grow out of the hole the republicans dug. Not anything close to the debt the repubs racked up under reagan, ghwb and bush*

And it's the military that is taken up more than half the budget

Of course!! What happened before has nothing to do with what is happening now!!

Re: Gov McDonnel (R) Flip-Flops on Debt Ceiling-Learns His States Credit Rating at ri

Obama was not honest he got caught and had to justify it.

McConnell got caught, and denies the obvious truth, and the rightwing minions continue to justify his flip flop. They can't even bring themselves to discuss McConnells lies, so they limit themselves to attacking Obama.

And the republicans are playing political games with the debt ceiling, and their rightwing minions know this, so they will not speak of McConnell. Instead, they focus their attention on Obama, so they can remain silent about McConnell's political posturing at the expense of the nations economy
