Last year, the rightwing think-tank the Heritage Foundation launched Project 2025, which laid out much of the policy blueprint for the current Trump administration. One of the project’s espoused goals was to permanently criminalize all pornography. Now, a Republican senator with kind words for Trump has introduced a bill that would do just that.

Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah) recently introduced the Interstate Obscenity Definition Act (IODA), which would effectively criminalize all pornography nationwide by legally redefining what it means to be obscene. For years, “obscenity” has been all but a defunct legal category that narrowly defines speech that remains unprotected by the First Amendment. Lee would explode this legal category, expanding it to encompass virtually all visual representations of sex.

So apparently the bill does define porn, the undefinable, as anything that appeals to prurient interests. I looked up prurient, and it’s defined as “having a or encouraging an excessive interest in sexual matters.” Now all they have to do is define “excessive.”

A lot of porn content probably comes close to being obscene, and there are already federal laws against the distribution of obscene materials, but under the existing Miller standard, it really has to be some awful stuff to check the boxes. Even if the law fails to pass, though, I could at some point see some evangelical energy pushing for threatened lawsuits, prosecution, and what not to basically intimidating the likes of PornHub into voluntarily closing down.
 
After reading the article, all I can see is that we need to protect children. Yes we do, I fully agree. Child porn is illegal, as it should be. I was happy to see that this wasn't driven by religious beliefs. What adults do to enjoy the sight of other naked people, which is completely natural, I have no problem with. What Lee is proposing is akin to getting rid of the liquor cabinet at home so that the kids can't raid it.
 
It's clear as day that Mike Lee and his forehead the size of a football field came home, heard his wife having some fun of her own to some Blacked videos on pornhub, and she made noises he never knew she or any other woman could make that didn't involve screaming the word no at him. So he felt some type of way after that and wants to ban porn.

They don't want to protect kids, they use them as a weapon to get gullible people on board with their bullshit controlling fascist politics.

I'm sure the same people that don't care when schools get shot up and are stripping back child labor laws totally care about the safety of children.
 
Isn't this bill rather self defeating for the magas? Imagine how many magas will be moving to other countries if they aren't allowed to access porn in the US? Definitely going to deplete maga voting number!! There might not even be a maga pastor left to teach their 'flock' of maga children on Sundays.
