GOP pushes schools to post all class materials online...

Yes .. I have .. and have insights into what is being covered; however, from a general perspective, this isn't something that's widely published or socialized for consumption by parents, and I see absolutely no problem with transparency, especially when I'm paying thousands in dollars in taxes to fund the schools.

So it's not some big secret?

Your original post:

Okay .. are you suggesting the school systems are already being transparent with the material? I would call bullshit .. I know my 12 year old daughter's schedule, yet, the curriculum has not been publicly shared. We have little to no depth into the material being taught in middle school. Why would you be against transparency from our government?
How will you determine if you have "enough depth?" Why can't you just review her homework?

Have you read some of the posts in this thread?
I've read posts from your side insisting that teachers need to supply all the materials they utilize in the name of "transparency"
and I have seen the other side post that information about curriculum is readily available and teachers should not be forced to such tedium to appease people who are totally politically motivated.
I have not seen anyone state that curriculum should be hidden. If you have, please point out the post.

Then you should have no concerns about bills like these because, at worst, they're redundant.

And the answer to you question on private schools is no. That is a matter between private schools and their customers.
And what would be the point of that?

Teachers need to teach children HOW to think .. and not WHAT to think, which is a pandemic of teaching we are seeing across the United States. If you're going to complain about government transparency with what's being taught to children, then the effort required to do so would be beneficial.
Show your work

The material and / or an abstract of the material is not published. I can certainly see what she brings home, and that's not full transparency, which we should expect from our government.
Have you tried talking to her? Or is your assumption that she is being radicalized by the left?

I don't believe that you can't access the curriculum. My advice would be to look at your child's online material, textbooks, and assignments. Any missing pieces can be obtained via a couple emails. I've been watching this process firsthand for years.
For some reason, they don't want to do this or....they think something nefarious is being taught and their kids won't talk about it.

Irrelevant .. I have children in school and know how things are transitioning .. to support these stupid sexual gender manifestations .. Schools support and push for gender transformation, and it's stupid.
Can you provide some examples? Thanks in advance.

That's irrelevant .. when I see curriculum and the response from my daughter, a 6th grader, telling me what she learns .. your argument is irrelevant. I ask my daughter, unlike many parents who do a shitty job of engaging with their children in education and they have a reliance that government is doing good things.
Wait...so YOU don't need this so-called "transparency" because you're reviewing your child's work, but the shitty parents need to go on line to review the curriculum and you're just looking out for them? That's very considerate of you.

The same shitty parents will suddenly become so invested in what their children are being taught that will go online and do a thoughtful review of the material....

No, we're saying that were there school choice regulations like, say, on transparency would most likely not be needed. School administrators would understand the value of common sense approaches like transparency and engage in it willingly.

By and large, you don't find private or public charter schools attempting to hide what goes on in their classrooms. To the contrary, they make a great effort to communicate what they do because they believe it will attract students and thus grow their program. Traditional public schools lack that motivation because they know, almost no matter what, the students and their funding will return each September.
Dude...you made that up. It's your unsubstantiated opinion.

I asked an educator before i even responded to this thread. The response was to the effect of, "um, curriculum is readily available to parents already, and everything else is about an email away. What the **** is this about?" That's when i was certain that this was just more faux CRT propaganda bullshit.

Even if I could I would not. Our kids have moved on to college so I no longer have that level of access to their former school. Had I that access, citing the location would be too much personal info.
🤣

I have access to the outcomes of her homework .. test scores, grades, etc. and no insight into what is being taught in for her basic subjects. For example, she has to take a class on "Social Justice," and I'm confident the content will be focused on "sensitivity" topics so the purple hair people don't cry..
If you have “no insight into what is being taught”, it’s because you haven’t put forth the effort to find out.

My wife and me were never, not a single time, refused information regarding what was being taught to our sons.

I don't know .. which is why I want transparency into what is being taught to my daughter. Are you against transparency?
Is this you?

I think you already knew that this was just more faux CRT propaganda bullshit, but generously gave benefit of the doubt.

Then what's your point. I mean, CRT is taught in college. What are you worried about in regards to the children Nat?
According to an earlier post, his kid(s) are supposedly in college now so maybe he should be demanding "transparency" from the colleges.

The material and / or an abstract of the material is not published. I can certainly see what she brings home, and that's not full transparency, which we should expect from our government.
How will you know when you've gotten "full transparency?"

I think you already knew that this was just more faux CRT propaganda bullshit, but generously gave benefit of the doubt.
Yeah, maybe my timeline is slightly out of order.

Tell me how.

They are building up with sencur before the book burnings..... Just think about it. Every parent will have viewpoint. The viewpoints that fit their own agenda and that are populistic will be the first to be censured. Remember that is how the Nazi did it. It started with banning pornografi and ended with anything that didn't fit their agenda. Teachers teaching equility are the first target. The GOP under Trump has done everything they can to attack human rights.

So, not a good thing...

So parent's knowing exactly what their kids are being thought is Nazist? I disagree. I actually will argue that preventing parents from knowing every detail of what their kids are being thought is Nazist

Their CRT being a GOP manufactured crisis wasn't enough. In addition to that the GOP wants US schools to post ALL class materials online.......they just don't stop.

Once again, with the GOP its ALL about culture war.

Republican state lawmakers across the U.S. are trying to require schools to post all course materials online so parents can review them, part of a broader national push by the GOP for a sweeping parents bill of rights ahead of the midterm congressional elections. At least one proposal would give parents with no expertise power over curriculum choices. Parents also could file complaints about certain lessons and in some cases sue school districts. Teachers say parents already have easy access to what their children learn. They worry that the mandates would create an unnecessary burden and potentially threaten their professional independence — all while dragging them into a culture war.

The bill insinuates SOMETHING IS HIDING.

The bill “insinuates there’s some hiding happening,” said Katie Peters, a high school English teacher in Toledo. “It makes me a little defensive, because I’m like — no, wait a minute, we’re not hiding anything. The transparency is always there, and the parents who have cared to look have always had access.” The bills arose from last year's debate over the teaching of race, diversity and sexuality. traThe GOP insists the changes are needed to give parents a measure of control over what their children see and hear in class.

Now who is pushing THEIR agenda on us? If you answered todays GOP, you win!
Anything they don't agree with, they want silenced. For SHAME!

yeah, we should all be good like droids so our superiors can train our kids to be woke.
Why are you afraid of schools making public the course materials for our children?
