GOP Disputes Obama's Claim That Border Security Has Improved - FoxNews.com
Republicans immediately fired back against President Obama after he claimed Tuesday that the U.S. border with Mexico has improved since he took office.
Obama made the comment during his first trip to the U.S.-Mexico border as commander-in-chief, where he called on Congress to pass sweeping legislation that would remake the nation's immigration system.
On his first trip to the U.S.-Mexico border since becoming president, Obama boasted of increasing border patrol agents, nearing completion of a border fence, and screening more cargo.
"Maybe they'll need a moat," he said mockingly to laughter from the crowd. "Maybe they'll want alligators in the moat."
"The question is whether those in Congress who previously walked away in the name of enforcement are now ready to come back to the table and finish the work we've started," he said.
Obama's Border moves have worked. The illegals have moved where they cross that's all.
Phoenix AZ. is still the kidnapping Capital of the world outside of Mexico, and it Mexica Drug Lords driving it.
If you watch the National Geo. channel has been showing the problems that the Border Patrol Agents run into almost daily.
Can you say never enforce by Obummer or Noploworthless.
[Sgt. Tommy Thompson, a public information officer at the Phoenix Police Department] said Phoenix has been dealing with the issue for several years now, and the number of reported kidnappings have actually decreased since this story broke in 2009. There were 358 reported kidnappings in 2008 (10 fewer than reported by the LA Times, due to later reclassification of the crimes), 318 in 2009 and there were 105 from January through May 2010, he said, putting the city on track to sustain less than 300 this year.
Kidnapping capital of the world? There are 500 kidnappings (that doesn't include "express kidnappings") in Colombia alone every single year. Most of them in the Medellin-Bogota areas. So how the hell can Phoenix be kidnapping capital of the world when Johannesburg, Rio and New Delhi, etc all have rates that make the kidnappings in Arizona look like kids playing hide and go seek for a few hours?
If you have information showing there are more kidnappings in any other city in the world than the 370 in Phoenix (2008), then present it and prove the OP wrong. if not, admit he is right. In what officials caution is now a dangerous and even deadly crime wave, Phoenix, Arizona has become the kidnapping capital of America, with more incidents than any other city in the world outside of Mexico City and over 370 cases last year alone.
Of course, they are only saying this cause Obama is black.
Give it a break with the "kidnap capital" thing, Councilman. It's just plain not true.
PolitiFact Texas | McCain says Phoenix is the second kidnapping capital in the world
President Barack Obama headed to Texas Tuesday toting a pledge to jump-start work on a comprehensive immigration bill — a long-awaited, never-attained goal of a Hispanic community that is crucial to Obama’s hopes of winning key southwestern states in 2012.
Are they cheering his newfound commitment to the goal? Hardly.
Many top Hispanic activists say Obama’s commitment to a bill is welcomed, but too little, too late, and they’d rather he put just as much effort into actions he can do with the stroke of his pen — such as slowing the deportations of certain illegal immigrants. “We all understand the importance of the legislative process and that we need a bipartisan bill in the long run, but that will take a long time and given the gridlock in Washington, has an uncertain payoff,” Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.) said Monday. “Immigrant communities need help now, our system is broken now, and the president can do something about it now.”
Obama’s speech in El Paso, Texas, is the centerpiece of the president’s latest push for a reform bill, but he’s battling deep skepticism among those most likely to appreciate the renewed effort, which has involved three White House meetings in the past three weeks and multiple mentions by the president of the need for reform. When Obama summoned more than 50 heavy hitters in politics, business and law enforcement to the White House last month to enlist their help on the bill, they surprised him by insisting that Obama needed to do more with his executive power to slow the deportations of illegal immigrants such as college students.
The disconnect between Obama and many in the State Dining Room points up the president’s challenge.
Not only is Obama resisting requests to use his executive power, but there also is no evidence the administration has a legislative strategy to pass a bill through Congress. That has left many to question Obama’s motives: Is he really serious this time, or is he just checking a political box ahead of the 2012 election?

just plain would indicate you have plain facts to prove it. but the link doesn't show any facts, it simply finds the claim unbelievable and states such an OPINION. that is the worst debunking link this forum has ever been a party to. congrats.
Scott Stewart, vice president of tactical intelligence for Stratfor, an Austin-based global intelligence company, separately chimed in: "According to our analysts, there is no way that Phoenix is the No. 2 city in the world for kidnapping and there are significantly more kidnappings in many other cities throughout Latin America," he said. "San Salvador, Guatemala City, Bogota as well as several cities in Mexico certainly have higher kidnapping rates than Phoenix."
Apparently you failed to read through the whole thing:
Of course, they are only saying this cause Obama is black.

some guy claiming something is a fact now? so we have a bunch of media outlets claiming one thing, and Scott Stewart claiming something else - and niether have anything verifiable to show us to back up those claims.. is that the plain old truth you speak of? pretty pathetic!

The difference is one side has research to back it up, whereas the other side can't even tell us where their figure came from. If you can show me a source that shows how exactly the No.2 Kidnapping Capital of the World figure was reached, I'd like to see it.
you've SEEN this research? Or are you accepting their word?

but without the evidence, you can't even be sure they are talking the same thing. one person could grant the award based on total kidnappings, and another factoring in population rates.
The LA Times was the first to break the story about Phoenix being the kidnap capital in the world was the LA times, and even they failed to provide their methodology in the story.
Mexico's drug war: Sharp rise in kidnapping in Phoenix - latimes.com
So who is anyone suppose to believe? I think it's best to just stay away from this talking point because it's not been definitively shown by anyone that Phoenix is the kidnap capital of the world, while there are several sources who say that they can produce evidence to the contrary.
As you know it's pretty hard to prove a negative, but if I see a source that claims that a city is the kidnapping capital of the world but doesn't back it up, and then I see another source that says we can actually find several other cities that outrank that city in terms of kidnapping, then who am I going to be inclined to believe?
The actual data that might shed light on this issue doesn't exist - definitions of kidnapping vary. Why should I believe the first claim?
