Andy Martin, a journalist from Illinois with a long history of controversial anti-Semitic remarks and the man credited with starting the rumor that Barack Obama is a Muslim, released an ad Monday in which he cited "rumors" that Rep. Mark Kirk (R-IL) is gay.
Illinois Republican Party Chairman Patrick Brady blasted Martin and the ad, saying, “The Illinois Republican Party disavows the statements made today by Mr. Andrew Martin in his statewide radio advertisements. His statements today are consistent with his history of bizarre behavior and often times hate-filled speech which has no place in the Illinois Republican Party. Mr. Martin will no longer be recognized as a legitimate Republican candidate by the Illinois Republican Party.”
I feel for this man. I believe he honestly sees liberals, Jews, and gays as threats to this country and he seeks to protect this country from them any way he can. Regardless of how you feel about his prejudices, you have to admire his commitment. He would choose to ostracize himself in his own party rather than to compromise on his beliefs. Of course, this is just my idle speculation. But based on what I have heard of the character of the man, not being allowed to serve a a lawyer in Illinois, I believe it is likely that he does honestly believe this is the best way to serve the people of Illinois.

I think that is why he is seen as a problem. Because so many, like you, are so sympathetic.
Oooh sorry. Did I take your quote out of context? Nah, I don't think so.

The guy who ran this is loved by the ultra right wing in Illinois. There the one's who got Allen Keys to run against Barak in 2006. Most people in the state were embarresed that Keyes got 30% of the vote back then. This moron will be destroyed by the real republicans in Illinois.
Eh. At least he won't be spending taxpayer dollars at strip clubs and expensive escorts! :2wave:
Gay competent or straight moron? Pick.
who has to admire his commitment? did you admire hitler's commitment?I feel for this man. uncalled for, really. Is there really someone called "Allen Keys"? I means does he screw up a lot? Is he always getting lost? Is he Swedish and works in IKEA? He hasn't got a brother named "Phillip" has he?
I challenge you to prove any of this.It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Will the Republican party fall to the New American Right, with its links to anti-semites, racists and homophobes. Or will the moderate Republicans being targeted as 'closet liberals" win the day. Supposing that the New American Right succeed in tapping into the vein of bigotry and prejudice, and the celebration of ignorance over reason, that now seems to be prevalent following the election of Obama, what would the outcome then be:
1. A solidly extremist GOP that wins the Presidency and both houses, and plunges America into a quagmire of repression, theocracy and division, the global economy into chaos as they bankrupt the banks and the aiutomotive supply chain and the world into war as they blame foreigners for the whole mess they have created. Or.
2. A solidly extremist GOP that never wins an election again, giving hegemony to a range of statists career Democrats, who will gorge even more on the gravy train, bankrupt the US economy, bring union demanded protectionism in to "protect US jobs", causing a global depression and then plunging the world into war as they blame China and India...
3. A solidly extremist GOP that destroys the GOP so badly that a thrid party emerges that takes the centre ground from both parties and wins elections with 60% of the vote. But that would likley degenerate into a weirder version of 2 in the end.
Anyway. I'm rootiong for these troglodytes to lose and for decent Republicans to win so that the checks and balances of moderate republicans versus moderate liberals can continue for some more time to come.
The alternative is a nightmare.
I challenge you to prove any of this.
