The power of conformity is strong. When all the others around you say black is white you are under pressure to agree.
How people will deny what they see and go with the group presure.

A lot of good points. I agree with everyone else here.
Of course.
"To get along, one must go along."
Many people do not believe in certain politically correct mantras, but they had better support those mantras in public -- or else!
One reason that a certain gentleman is in BIG trouble is that he refuses to endorse many politically correct mantras, so his enemies have been trying to bring him down for the last three years.
At school, at work, on the political front, most people are susceptible to peer pressure. Most people want to belong. Bless their little hearts!
You should write your representative and tell them that Congress is almost forcing an additional 4 years of Donald Trump, by their actions. That isn’t true.
Ideology has nothing to do with the matter at hand.
You could insert any name, any ideology, or any party. Insert the same set of issues and behavior, and you would have the same set of issues.
For people like me, who know exactly who and what kind of a man Donald Trump is thirty years ago, these have been frightening times. Watching so many people sswept up in his Archie Bunkerish personality cult, and twisting themselves into pretzels imaginging rationalizations to dismiss his blatant corruption and criminality is a sorry spectacle indeed.
Trump has set all the precidents for a future tyrant to come in and finish off democracy in America. Trump won’t be that person. He is too lazy, too stupid, and far to weak to do that.
But the behavior of his followers, deep in the thrall of a cult of personality that would please any dictator, makes it clear that “it can happen here”.
If Trump goes unchecked, it will only be a matter of time.
