The GoFundMe campaign that was raising money to build a wall between the US-Mexico border did not meet its $1 billion goal, which means the platform will begin issuing refunds to donors.
On Friday, Brian Kolfage, who created the fundraiser, updated the campaign's GoFundMe page, urging donors to redirect their donations to a new 501(c)(4) non-profit Florida Corporation named “We Build the Wall, Inc.”
The campaign, created in December of last year, had raised $20 million.

There we have it. Conservatives didn't care enough about the wall to even raise a down payment on a few miles of a wall. The free market solution has failed, and now a minority of Americans are holding around 800k people hostage and demanding everyone else pay for what they want.

You had the chance to put your money where your mouth is and you didn't, and now you're hoping you can use the government to force everyone else to foot the bill. Keep your fingers out of our pockets. If you didn't care enough about it why should we?

20 million buys 5 miles of wall? What kind of wall? Who's the contractor? Where's the proposal? Does that include the court fees, settlements and purchasing agreements for the land? Please document how you know the dollar per mile value of this poorly defined wall.

Just like that you are a conservative. Too bad you don't think like this apolitically.

A very stupid idea from the start. Is anyone really surprised?

Good. I'm glad that GoFundMe held the money and that these folks were not scammed.

Actually, let me correct you, RabidAlpaca. I do want increased border security, including the building of new physical barriers where appropriate. And I am happy to be taxed in order for my tax dollars to going to pay for that enhanced border infrastructure and the men and women who would maintain our borders. However, as an individual citizen, I am no more entitled to privately fund a border wall, any more than I can privately enforce customs or levy taxes to raise my own army. These are sovereign powers which are held by a national government, not private citizens. That any citizen would claim to be able to arrogate that power to himself by private means (and private funding) is laughable.

EDIT: Because let us pretend for the sake of argument that this man did raise the 5, 10 or 20 billion dollars it would cost to construct a wall (I realize it would most likely cost far more)...so what? I do not believe he would be entitled to build it on the border. Not unless he built it on private land that he purchased that happened to adjoin the U.S.-Mexico border. And perhaps not even then.

Maybe the fact that he turned out to be a con man from way back was part of the problem.

The Trump fans wanted everyone else to pay for Trump's symbolic vanity wall.

A pyramid scheme without the pyramid.

Though I am very happy with some of his actions as President, tres borrachos, I do not consider myself a Trump Fan. Since I am paying more taxes now than I have ever done before, I would certainly support some measure of them going to paying for more comprehensive border security including more walls, fences and barriers where appropriate.

No, that's impossible. Trump says you pay less taxes than ever before thanks to his awesome tax cut. And since we all know he never lies, then your post must be a lie.

The title is insufficient. It should read 'Veteran Triple Amputee's TM GoFundMe initiative shut down by heartless liberals'

Hey I'm getting good at this.

Seems like even Trump supporters don't care enough to pay up.

That does not include the funds (cash and money orders) he asked to be sent to a friends house. I wonder what is going to happen to that?'

But, but, they are more than 1/2 way there...:lamo

The reason why this was never going to work is because it was always Trump supporters' expectation that the blue states would pay for the wall. Maybe Mexico wasn't going to pay for it, but that somebody else was going to pay for it was always a given.

Blue State America has given trump their reply...Not Now...Not Ever

Administrative costs?

I actually wonder if his "help mentor a veteran" GoFundMe thing was actually ever looked into. It was clear from a less than stellar source that the money did not go to the vets.....but has that been confirmed? And if so, has it been looked into legally?
