Its actually a smart move, USA pushed hard that Germany should ban Huawai, a move that Germany did not want to go.
The new law is far more specific, it doesnt target Huawei directly. It states that evry company must be trustworthy to participate in such projects.
Huawei is not trustworthy and thus will not get the contracts. Ironicly the law allows to also ban american CISCO company, since CISCO is for USA what Huawei is for China and thus not trustworthy either.
In my opinion thats the best solution, because it doesnt target one company but allows to look into the entire market and follows the new agenda we have in Europe, to push american companies out of business here.
And before some morons say thats Germany alone, no, the most vocal supporter of this "american push out" is actually France.

Lange hat die Bundesregierung eine Entscheidung zu Huawei hinausgezögert. Angela Merkel wollte den Konzern nie komplett vom 5G-Netzausbau ausschließen – anders als von den USA gefordert. Nun sieht es für den chinesischen Anbieter dennoch schlecht aus.
