Georgia governor overrides all local mask orders in the state

Wonderful, hope tons of Republicans move to georgia.

Looks like that asshole Kemp just shot up to the top of the list that President OrangeGlow keeps, on who to look at next for whatever temp assignment.

I am in Georgia, and not many are pleased with Kemp resorting to dictating less safety during a pandemic.

It has happened in other States, too, Kemp is just the latest. Nebraska, Oklahoma, Florida... most have relented, but there are still idiot holdouts. Stitt, despite testing positive, is still in denial.

Isn't this just what Abbott in Texas did...and then things got worse?

Actually, no he didn't overule local masks rules, but he did not order Statewide mask orders until fairly recent. Better late than never.

this will almost certainly result in a lot of deaths. he is a scumbag.

If it makes you feel better, if you want to do it, wear a mask.

Once infected, the chance of survival is very high.

You aren't wearing a mask for YOURSELF. You are wearing it to PROTECT ME. Don't give me the usual BS about everyone being responsible for their own health. We are ALL in this together; everyone has to do their part. Idiots (and that is exactly what they are) who refuse to wear a mask where appropriate are part of the problem, not part of the solution. Heavy fines should be levied against such fools. It is because of this moronic selfish attitude that we are where we are as a nation today.

He's been a scumbag for a long time. He cheated to BECOME Governor.

Here's a philosophical question that I haven't found a solution for: How many idiotic posts does one have to post to demonstrate that one is, in fact, an idiot? Do you have a theory? Does it involve aliens?

I don't have the infection Ethel. I've been checked.

You didn't have it the day you were checked. Your logic is like a woman saying "The pregnancy test was negative, so I don't have to use contraceptives ever again."

Once infected (with a highly contagious virus) the chance of infecting others is very high.

That's a personal decision. Develop what standards you choose, and apply them. Idiotic posts are a dime-a-dozen, and you've been around here long enough to know that. Idiots abound on the internet, as does high anxiety inspired by fear-mongering. There is herd mentality and there is herd immunity, but many are not aware of either.

If one goes out in public, yes. If one stays home like we were taught as kids, one does not infect others during that period of being infectious.

The mask is only required in (some) public places. If one stays home then the mask requirement does not apply. Since only about 1% of the US population has ever been COVID-19 tested to date, that leaves about a 99% chance that a given person has no idea if they are currently COVID-19 infectious (or not).

If it takes 2 to 5 days for a COVID-19 lab test result to be obtained then even with every person getting tested every day one would not know if they were (or were not) infected on the those days between giving the test sample and learning the lab test result. Of course, there is also the possibility that the test is not 100% accurate (i.e. may yield a false negative result).

Hmm... "But, officer, there is no way that I could have been driving drunk tonight - I passed a BAC test yesterday." ;)

That's one of the funny things about this engineered virus--it's so virulent and dangerous that many people don't even know they are infected. Let's shut down the country and impose martial law and suspend the Constitution over it.

Wait, we've already suspended, or at least nullified, that document.

I'm thinking you have some legal training of some sort. Might you offer an opinion regarding the legal authority for the state to impose such an order?

That's bit of an overreaction when social distancing, mask wearing and more frequent hand washing (if all widely practiced) may well git-r-done.

I do not have any formal legal training, but suggest you look into the executive power to (legally) declare an emergency situation and then take (temporary) action(s) based on that declaration.

Should the executive power have to explain or justify its actions, or is our executive rather like King George?
