This is a fundamental point that has been strangely ignored. It obviously bothered this General. At the start of the attack no one could know how long it would last, so it was impossible to claim there was not enough time to respond.eace
General: We Should Have Tried in Benghazi - Oren Dorell, USA Today
WASHINGTON — U.S. military personnel knew early on that the Benghazi attack was a "hostile action" and not a protest gone awry, according to a retired general who served at U.S. Africa Command's headquarters in Germany during the attack.
While the exact nature of the attack was not clear from the start, "what we did know early on was that this was a hostile action," retired Air Force brigadier general Robert Lovell said in his prepared statement Thursday morning to members of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. "This was no demonstration gone terribly awry."
Lovell's testimony contradicts the story that the Obama administration gave in the early days following the Sept. 11, 2012, attacks on the U.S. Consulate that left four Americans dead, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens. . . .
I believe that is the main reason people can't seem to let go of this problem - although I'm certain the administration wishes they would. When an Ambassador is basically told "you're on your own," it makes an average person wonder how valuable their own life might be to the government, and that hits too close to home for many people!
Good evening, Jack. :2wave:
I'm no Obama hater. I do wish he'd at least tried. It bothers me. I coulda been the guy painting that target and hoping my sacrifice makes a difference for the others.
That's not what happened.
Did someone utter the words to him - no - does that mean it didn't happen? Its exactly WHAT DID happen.
Where did you get that BS? Are you more concerned with greeting Jack than with the truth?I believe that is the main reason people can't seem to let go of this problem - although I'm certain the administration wishes they would. They could have at least tried. The fact they didn't is daunting. It should haunt hilda for it explains exactly what kind of leadership she'd exert - the kind that maintains her public profile over all else.
I think Hillary is a hawk. I don't think she had direct control.

They died because they were dealing with shady al Qaeda linked militants trying to smuggle kadaffis weapons into Syria. They did not die fighting for America, they died helping arm al Qaeda fighters in Syria.

And since that Ambassador was not in a US embassy AND turned down a offer of more security probably because the CIA did not want their cover blown, it is all Obama's fault? This was a CIA screwup and why should we be surprised at that? Bush gave them all got raises after they allowed the 911 attack and the Medal of Freedom to the CIA head after he called the presence of WMD's in the Iraq a "slam dunk". They are rewarded for failure and now that is all they can do.
There was a response. They did try.
No, it's not. There was no "stand down" order.

Hillary Clinton is not a general. I'm not sure what "direct control" people think she would have had over anything that night.
No one is claiming there was a stand down order. His testimony was that there were no orders at all.eace
