So most people love to talk about games they're good or great at, and those are likely the ones you play a lot. But what about games you suck at, whether you play them a lot (or try to) or "never again".
I'll start, of course. Uncharted. I don't know which one I wanted to play so bad because the story looked interesting and I just wanted to try something new. I didn't make a first kill. Didn't make it off the boat you start at, very beginning. I tried over and over and still couldn't figure it out. This one is a "never again" one for me.
I also suck at first person shooters and racing games. I actually did okay with Mario Cart for my Switch (one of my sons got it for me for a birthday gift). But I don't think I'm really good at Mario Cart, but rather get lucky. Now the ones in arcades, I haven't actually tried one of those in years, not since I got my driver's license, but I'm not really sure that'd make a difference. And first person shooters just aren't for me. I suck at aiming in a video game and hesitate to kill people and just can't do them.
Chess.
I mean I think I'm pretty good. But I remember in college there was this guy in my dorm who I would play- and he would beat me. Every time.
Once, we were at a party, and he drank so much beer he was totally drunk. His eyes were red, his cheeks were flushed, his speech was a little slurred. But he asked me to play chess. I told him "look, you're drunk. Why don't we wait 'til you sober up tomorrow and then we can play." But he said no, he really was in the mood to play. So we did.... and he STILL beat me! (And it wasn't like I wasn't trying)
Darn it! So humiliating. My friends from college whom I stay in touch with still give me a hard time about that.
