From the economic frying pan and into the fire? (2 Viewers)

Of course it's not a vote for Trump.
But ... not voting for Harris or staying home set the stage for the Trump win. There were realistically two choices in this election. The outcome was too important to stay home or protest vote because you didn't like the choices.
And for many years now I have expressed disdain for the 'realistic' choices.

While yall complain that a vote for anyone other than Harris, I've been saying that a vote for any of the few they offer (and even less of the hand picked ones Hello Hillary, Hello Harris) are worth voting for, and we enable the political overlords as we continue to champion bad candidates.

Until we reach a point where we stop doing that, they will continue to offer up who THEY think is best, instead of who WE think is best.

Biden gives us the worst inflationary cycle in nearly 50 years. Trump has given the stock market its worst April since the Great Depression (as reported in today's WSJ).

As voters, when oh when are we going to learn and start electing leaders who respect business and who respect markets?

The moment you become more honest about this will be the moment people take you more seriously.

The inflation spike after coming out of the covid lockdowns was in part because of fiscal policy but the bigger factor was supply-side purposeful feathering their response to the new demand levels from the post pandemic lockdowns. Demand pulled supply, larger corporations raked in large profits, and this is an econ 101 textbook example of what causes inflation spikes. Supply lagged. If there was a mistake by Democrats at the time it was releasing funding, that amplified demand, that was chasing supply that purposefully was not there. What Biden and Democrats did was unwise, but not intentional.

Trump purposefully engaged in a multi-direction trade dispute with just about every trading partner we have, nearly all at the same time, forcing investors to not just hit the markets with a larger than correction selloff but also Trump's actions triggered a global sell off of US treasuries brining the US Dollar valuation to fresh multi-year lows. Trump and MAGAs, as opposed to Biden and Democrats, were entirely purposeful in forcing these recent events further alienating us from allies and allowing dubious characters to gain advantage globally.

This is bigger than some social meme level concept like "respect business and... markets," it is about dealing with economic and world market realities. Things you clearly know little about.

🤗 Oh goodie. Starting out with a lie.

Biden inherited Trump's covid mess.
Trump inherited an economy that was the envy of the world.

Both sides!!!

To me, it wasn't about Covid, it was about the stimulus, that at that point, was UN-NEEDED vote buying.

Ok, and?

If you voted for Harris, an un-electable rushed candidate, you lapped up what the DNC gave you as an option.
If you wanted Biden, as an un-electable shell of himself.
You already said you didn't want Trump.

The point, MY point, was that the choices were horrific, and getting worse. You are being led and fed a hot dog, and argue that it's a Wagyu aged ribeye steak.
In an alternate timeline, President Harris is overseeing a stable economy and strengthening relationships with our closest Allies while proposing a modest policy of helping first time homebuyers.

The horror.

Then you'd be ignoring empirical study into supply chains coming out of the covid lockdowns.

That is a false staement.
You've been misled as well. It spiked in the US months before so-called "worldwide inflation" hit.

Oh, do tell. Explain yourself. How do I not "respect the truth and facts?"
"Biden gave us"....

Inflation was a global phenomenon. The US fared better than everyone else in the world. In fact, Powell and the Biden admin actually performed the "soft landing" they promised. A strong economy after getting inflation in control.

These tariffs, the market impact, and the coming recession are all Trumps doing and there's zero doubt about that.

I'm doing fine, but I am likely in a better position financially than most.

I try not to base all of my decisions off my position though.

Why is it a "false equivalency?" If voters are responsible for the consequences of Trump policy, why aren't voters responsible for the consequences of Biden policy?

Trump has never been held accountable

Not sure of any of that. All I know is that she was a horrible candidate, with no competition, in order to flesh what sort of President she would be.

That's wrong. The stimulus not only kept us out of a recession, but it also does not track with consumption.

This also correlates with my personal experience. While everything was closed, I paid down debt. I didn't stash money away just to spend it when the pandemic was over. Some did. Most did not.

We experienced negative growth for two quarters WITH the stimulus. This alone shows the error of thinking the stimulus drove inflation. The soft landing proves the stimulus was successful.

I'm glad that you mentioned that you consider others. What about your loved ones and your community? Do you think the election of Trump hurt or helped them?

Trump ran on destroying the economy and rapidly imploding the government.

People apparently like that more than having a woman in charge.

The first few rounds sure. The last one, not at all.
I didn't need to pay down debt, as I already was. Stimulus money was free money to spend for me.

With those different scenarios, I can see why we would view it differently.

Not sure that is what he ran on, nor that people don't want a woman so much as they didn't want that woman.

But so far, all I am getting is how you feel instead of what you know.

Tell us how good a candidate she was: What were some of her policy positions that you agreed with?

Hypothetically, if you HAD to make a choice between Trump or Harris, which one would you have picked?

I mean, I am still young enough that I don't think in short term increments I suppose. Long term, I am doing well.
I'm glad that you mentioned that you consider others. What about your loved ones and your community? Do you think the election of Trump hurt or helped them?
I just don't see much impact. I do hear and see a lot of teeth gnashing, complaining, and overall angst about Trump, but as of yet I don't see any real implications I can point to as 'bad'
