I hate getting pop up ads, too. I especially hate the ones that have the fake "X's" in the corner, and they trick into clicking on their link.Is it just me or do pop ads piss EVERYONE off? And its not just popups...its the websites that includes images and links that move as your mouse hovers over them to divert you to an advertisement site or that you have to click to get rid of them so you can read the articles. Is there ANYONE that would try to open an article only to get add bombed to another site that then stops and thinks "say...I sure am glad that happened....I might just have to rush out to buy their product!"?

Damn straight. And sometimes there are so many on the page you have to look around just to shut the suckers up. I'd love to be able to simply be a voice playing in the bedroom late at night of the **** that dreamed this up. "Pssst. I know it's late and you're trying to get some sleep, but have you ever thought about how nice it would be to have musical condoms? Yeah. Didn't think so, but now that I've mentioned it, here's a sample of what might be playing...Yeah. ZZ Top. I knew you'd like it...Here's "Row, Row, Row Your Boat"...
I seem to have figured out how to use Firefox pop up blocker, as your post reminded me that I had that problem once too. Once, I crashed the computer in panic, the ads were coming so fast I thought I had been hacked. Now, I only have a problem with certain areas. I get a lot of diversion. Click on a YouTube oldie and "bam' you are suddenly treated to a new concept in "love making". And then, there are some many boxes with so many x's, you have to tolerate the crap while figuring how to get out.
Content needs to be paid for and I am not completely opposed to ads to get ur done, but man in America today just about every inch of our lives is overly polluted with ads. This whole business of advertisers being annoying to get attention I have talked about here at DP, like I mentioned a radio ad that gives out a phone number 7 times speaking really fast in a very annoying voice...when I hear that kind of crapola I try to remember the company or product so that I can make sure that they never get my money. I need more beauty in my life, I have plenty of ugly already, I have no interest in promoting the creation of more ugly.
Seconded. Sometimes I even forget the Internet has ads. Then people complain about them and I remember why I installed Adblock Plus. Not only for ads, but for malware protection as well.AdBlock Plus.
Done.

I run multiple websites and I don't use advertising on any of them. Granted, my viewership can probably be counted on two hands for one of them, but I have just never believed the Internet has to be so much about money grabbing. And no, I have absolutely no problem with more sites offering less "content" in exchange for less advertising.Hate to be mean to sites that rely on advertising, but it's just gotten too much.
Cut it all out and be done it with it.
