Foreign Fighters in Iraq Are Tied to Allies of U.S. - New York Times

Some highlights:

Saudis accounted for the largest number of fighters listed on the records by far — 305, or 41 percent — American intelligence officers found as they combed through documents and computers in the weeks after the raid. The data show that despite increased efforts by Saudi Arabia to clamp down on would-be terrorists since Sept. 11, 2001, when 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudi, some Saudi fighters are still getting through.

Libyans accounted for 137 foreign fighters, or 18 percent of the total, the senior American military officials said. They discussed the raid with the stipulation that they not be named because of the delicate nature of the issue.

American officials have accused Iran, the largest Shiite nation in the Middle East, of sending powerful bombs to Iraq and of supporting and financing Shiite militias that attack American troops. They also contend that top Iranian leaders support efforts to arm Shiite fighters.

But whatever aid Iran provides to militias inside Iraq does not seem to extend to supplying actual combatants: Only 11 Iranians are in American detention, United States officials say.

Osama bin Laden is a Saudi who has declared war on the Saudi government. What's your point? Is it your contention that the government of Saudi Arabia is responsible for these individuals coming to Iraq?

And the Saudi government has actively supported Hamas. An enemy of the U.S.A. - Only the most dishonest of war-on-terror defenders would argue against the fact that Saudi Arabia has been supporting terrorism long before it became a problem for U.S. citizens. I have already asked Aquapub but he hasn't replied. You are more then welcomed to try and explain why the House of Saud has been channelling billions to terrorist groups since 1997.

guess it was for the best taht this list was limited to Iraq
if one included teh entire 'War on Terror'
we would have to bomb ourselves
taliban adam and the other americans who have gone over to the dark side:3oops:

Actually. The Saudis happen to be funding terrorists that have the declared war on the U.S. . How the fuck can you ally with people who are funding those who have openly declared war on you? In the words of my 9 year old niece. "Thats like sooooooo retarded!"

Maybe you can try and show me when these Saudi-funded terrorist groups declared war on the USA and whether or not the Saudis continued funding them after said declaration. As for Hamas, when were they placed on the terrorist list and what's your evidence that the Saudis funded them after they were placed on this list?

Furthermore, assuming you can provide satisfactory proof of your claims, what do you suggest as our course of action regarding Saudi Arabia?

No more than it is the contention of many conservatives on this board that since foreign fighters are coming from Iran, that Iran's government is responsible.

So then you're contending that these Saudis are part of a Saudi military force?

Other countries also need to change their practices. In London, a favorite center for Middle East money, banks connected to the Saudi royal family enjoy "sovereign immunity," which England grants to monarchies. These banks are exempt from the scrutiny of the Financial Service Authority, which tries to head off money laundering.

The system is no surprise to the U.S. government because Washington and its allies have used it, too. The Bank of Credit and Commerce International was a British-Pakistani bank that used secret offshore accounts to effect a global money-laundering fraud that cost victims $8 billion. Before it was shut down in 1991, it was used to fund the Mujahadeen, then fighting the Soviet-supported government of Afghanistan. The money came from U.S. and Saudi intelligence.

Now many of the formerly U.S.-supported Mujahadeen are members of bin Laden's network. They know all about how to launder money through the international bank secrecy system.

Unless you can explain how calling for attacks on the U.S. is not a declaration of war. Thanks for playing :

Saudi Arabia funding Hamas and associated groups like the PLO

Saudi Royal Family's Financial Support to the Palestinians 98-03: $4 Billion to Mujahideen

For decades the royal family of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been the main financial supporter of Palestinian groups fighting Israel, through the creation of two major committees. The Popular Committee for Assisting Palestinian Mujahideen and The Support Committee for the Al-Quds Intifada and The Al-Aqsa Fund have to date given over 15 billion Saudi Riyals (4 billion $U.S.) and reportedly pledged Palestinians up to 1 billion dollars to finance the continuation of the Intifada, which is also commonly referred to by Saudi officials as "Jihad" [1] and "resistance." [2]

WorldNetDaily: Saudi royals funding Palestinian jihad

The royal family of Saudi Arabia donated more than $4 billion to the Palestinians between 1998 and 2003 to help finance offensive terrorist operations against Israel, a new report says.

According to the Middle East Media Research Institute, a Washington, D.C-based group that monitors Mideast media, the House of Saud's support has gone to "'Mujahideen fighters' and 'families of martyrs'" killed in operations against the Jewish state.

"For decades the royal family of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been the main financial supporter of Palestinian groups fighting Israel, through the creation of two major committees," says the report, which was released July 3.

Hamas on terrorist list :

Hamas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hamas is listed as a terrorist organization by Canada,[5] the European Union,[6] Israel,[7] Japan,[8] and the United States,[9] and is banned in Jordan.[10] Australia [11] and the United Kingdom [12] list the militant wing of Hamas, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, as a terrorist organization. In recent years Hamas has grown in popularity, though in the last year Hamas's popularity has started to wane.

Since the death of Palestine Liberation Organization leader Yasser Arafat, Hamas's political wing has entered and won many local elections in Gaza, Qalqilya, and Nablus. In January 2006, Hamas won a surprise victory in the Palestinian parliamentary elections, taking 76 of the 132 seats in the chamber, while the ruling Fatah party took 43.[13] The Hamas charter states: "There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad,"[14] and this stance has found a receptive audience among Palestinians; many perceived the preceding Fatah government as corrupt and ineffective, and Hamas's supporters see it as an "armed resistance"[15] movement defending Palestinians from the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories.[16] Hamas has further gained popularity by establishing hospitals, education systems, libraries and social services[17] throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip.[18] The Palestinian territories have experienced internal conflicts for many years; since Hamas's election victory, particularly sharp infighting has occurred between Hamas and Fatah, leading to many Palestinian deaths.[19][20]

Have fun :)

Hamas has been calling for attacks on the U.S. since it was created. It is common knowledge that Saudi Arabia supports Hamas.

Saudi main source of funding Hamas: Report

And finally the piece de resistance :

USATODAY.com - Israeli: Saudi Arabia sends $14M annually to Hamas

Much of the money comes from Saudi charities that are controlled by the Saudi government, said Gold, a former ambassador to the United Nations who now serves as an adviser to Sharon. He has written a book on Saudi Arabia's alleged support for terrorism.

Saudi government officials and Hamas spokesmen did not immediately return calls seeking comment. Saudi officials have said in the past that money raised among Saudis for Palestinians is intended for humanitarian purposes.

He said Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah met in October 2002 with Khaled Mashaal, the Hamas political leader based in Damascus.

So lets see here.

1. Saudi Arabia supports Hamas.
2.a) Hamas has been declared a terrorist organization.
b) That has declared war on the U.S.
3. Saudi Arabia supports terrorist organization that have declared war on U.S.
