Honestly, although the people are not blameless here, Walmart is much more responsible after they realized there was no limit and still allowed it to happen. The government should hold WalMart responsible for any overcharges.
The businesses around here put up signs to apologize and say that they simply couldn't accept EBT due to a system problem and that is what WalMart should have done, unless they are willing to cover the additional costs.
Its a thread topic. Commenting on it is what you are supposed to do. Or...maybe whine bitch and cry because conservative posters actually dare to point out just how ****ed up and corrupt some people can be.This thread is like the proverbial **** that attracts flies. Amazing how many conservatives hit this thing within minutes of it going up to hammer the "takers".
Just like the unscrupulous people waiting to pounce on a glitch which lets them take advantage of the system, you all live for these kinds of opportunities. Don't you?
WalMart is as guilty as the people.
"Lynd explained the cards weren't showing limits and they called corporate Wal-Mart, whose spokesman said to let the people use the cards anyway."
Xerox should have to pay for this, their screw up. And every person that went on their shopping spree should be charged with EBT fraud.
Well look at it from Walmart's perspective......you deny allowing someone on welfare buying food=bad PR.
The people who are solely responsible for this are those who bought beyond what they knew their benefits were. There are occasionally banking glitches where a number is off and someone ends up with way more money than they were supposed to, that doesn't mean they get to go on a shopping spree.
Also, Wal-Mart for giving the nod of approval to this. Corporations are people, right? This means we can put them in jail?
A point. If you don't want corporations being seen as people then it would be advisable to stop taxing them as if they are capable of paying taxes.
Why should the recipients get off scott free? The govt. should pay Wally World and take it off their next months' benefits until it's paid off.

Those are income taxes, not person taxes. Businesses make income, profit, use the infrastructure, rely on emergency services to protect the assets of businesses, and more. Hence businesses should pay taxes. If you don't want corporations being seen as people then it would be advisable to stop taxing them as if they are capable of paying taxes.
A business is capable of paying bill's, so it is capable of paying business taxes. That is what the business's accountants are for

WHat was that saying? When Black people grab stuff after a disaster, they are called looters. But, when white folks do it, they call them survivalists. Its a thread topic. Whats just a little more funny than watching the herd of handout clowns stealing shopping baskets full of food is the people that rush into here and a-defend them and b-blame it on Walmart.
Clearly you're not an accountant. Enough said.People make incomes. A business is incapable of earning an income.
For a business (or corporation, same thing in a general way), taxes are just another bill. Granted a bit more complex and requiring unreasonable amounts of calculation, but still a bill.A business is capable of paying bill's, so it is capable of paying business taxes. That is what the business's accountants are for

I think you better take that to the philosophy forum. This has nothing to do with accounting, but with capability. A piece of property can't earn or make anything. It's just an object that has no abilities of it's own.
A point.
It seems likely that no corporation has ever paid any taxes.
Without passing the cost on to their customers, anyway.

Eventhough every other store in the nation either denied use of EBT cards or at least limited them to $50 each, including other WalMarts around the country. These two WalMarts are the only ones reporting that they allowed people to buy as much as they wanted with their EBT cards.
If the bank tells them to keep it or that there is no problem with their account, they can in fact keep and spend the money.
Actually, it can't. The only entity that can pay taxes are people. Nothing else has the capability to pull it off. Once you start treating something as a person you shouldn't be surprised that are in turn seen as one.
Where do you get the idea only people can pay taxes?
A corporation can earn profits, through the work and investment of its employees and investors, it can pay taxes through the same workers based on its profits. Business's have long had to pay tariffs and other forms of taxes, they certainly can pay business income taxes.
Food stamp glitch leads to Wal-Mart stampede- MSN Money
People abusing a system they new had limits the people who were practically stealing . Shame on you .
