Some good news for those that support women’s right of dominion over their own bodies.

Florida voters will decide whether to protect abortion rights

Abortion rights:

Many were predicting that the conservative court — with five justices appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis — would reject the abortion initiative and uphold the abortion ban. But that's not how it played out.

Justices upheld the 15-week abortion banpassed by the governor and GOP lawmakers in 2022. Because that was upheld, the much more restrictive six-week ban on abortion will take effect in 30 days.

In a statement, state Rep. Anna Eskamani said:

"The implementation of the 6 week abortion ban in our state will be devastating, and is another example of extreme far-right Republican politicians who will stop at nothing to strip us away of our bodily autonomy and personal decision making. For everyday Floridians, regardless of party affiliation, there is overwhelmingly agreement that decisions around one's pregnancy are personal and private. While we navigate the dangerous and life-risking consequences of this six week abortion ban I feel confident that the tide will turn in Florida come November."

On the flip side, Justices rejected arguments by the attorney general and decided the language was clear on the initiative to "limit government interference with abortion," therefore sending it to the ballot during elections.

If 60% of voters approve in November, abortion rights will be enshrined in the state constitution.

"No longer will decisions about abortion be left between politicians disconnected from the realities of everyday Floridian's lives. No longer will health care be treated as a wedge issue to divide us. This November, Floridians will get the chance to pass an initiative to remove politicians from private medical decisions around abortion," Lauren Brenzel, the Yes on 4 campaign director, said.

Poll: Over 60% of Florida voters support proposed abortion

A survey of 716 registered voters released by UNF’s Public Opinion Research Lab (PORL) on Thursday indicates support for both measures surpasses the 60% supermajority threshold needed to pass.

Guaranteed, there’ll be a lot of $ sent to Florida by pro-choice organizations to help the cause.

I foresee another Kentucky/Ohio event.

Hopefully. That might send a message to more conservative elements.
It hasn't yet.....tho Ohio R's tried to change the State Constitutional Amendment rules....even THAT didn't work.

True, but after enough vote supporting abortion rights, they'll eventually have no choice but to accept it.

The Florida election is going to be a must see tv event.

Traitor Trump’s been all over the place on his support for abortion limits. Just last month he said he’d be onboard with a nationwide 15 week ban.

It has to get 60% to pass however and it appears the strongest it can get in polling is 62. That means there’s a good chance it simply won’t pass.

Never underestimate the power of pissed off voting women.
There is very little difference in abortion opinion between men and women as a whole. It’s largely brainwashed liberal men driving this cause

That could well be the US presidential election. Trump better buy himself a nice toothbrush for his long stay in federal housing ahead.

You go with that.......I'll go with what I saw in Kentucky and Ohio.
They have to meet a far larger percent threshold in Florida.

And that will be pointed out in ads, I'm sure. It's also a Presidential election....more come out to vote.

More come out for both sides during a presidential year and not just those who care about a specific measure

If the highest polling it gets is 62% then it’s not in good position to pass, given republicans and independents both only support it at like 50 and 58 and way outnumber democrats

If that's the case, it seems liberal men respect women's rights and autonomy.

Abortion AND recreational marijuana will be on the ballot in Florida in November.

Florida is back in contention for democrats in 2024.

Whoop whoop.
Yeah, no it’s not.

Yeah, no it’s not.
Happy to see that perspective.

In fact, I think that’s exactly the perspective for MAGAs and zealots to hold.

No big deal. Nothing to see. It will never happen.

Keep that mindset!

Some bad news for babies in the womb and for Christians who value the sanctity of life. When are abortionists going to recognize it is not just the women's body and somebody has to stand up for the babies. There are two lives involved. Like the law that prevents a person from selling their own body parts for money the government sets restrictions on bodily automony. This isn't their body that is at risks in 99% of the cases. Inconvenience seems to be what drives the left.

What babies? There are no babies. It's like some theists pretend the woman herself doesn't exist or is just an afterthought.
