Equality for all!A federal judge on Tuesday moved to invalidate the same-sex marriage ban in Kansas, saying there was clear legal precedent from a federal appeals court. State officials have until Nov. 11 to file an appeal.A federal judge on Tuesday moved to invalidate the same-sex marriage ban in Kansas, saying clear legal precedent from a federal appeals court commanded that result despite support for the ban among many citizens of the state.“Judging the constitutionality of democratically enacted laws is among the gravest and most delicate enterprises a federal court ever undertakes,” Judge Crabtree wrote in a 38-page decision. “But just as surely, following precedent is a core component of the rule of law,” he said. “When the Supreme Court or Tenth Circuit has established a clear rule of law, our court must follow it.” The judge issued a preliminary injunction blocking state officials from refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. But he also said he would stay his ruling for one week, until 5 p.m. on Nov. 11, to give state officials time to file an expected appeal with the Tenth US Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver.Judge Crabtree said the stay would also give Kansas officials time to prepare to honor his injunction and begin facilitating same-sex marriages, should the Tenth Circuit reject the appeal.

Define equality...
Define equality...
Being seen as equal under the law.
Only under the law?
Where else can a legal authority see you?
Being seen as equal under the law.
When a state votes against SSM, doesn't that apply to all under the law?
Not federal law. Not if its ruled unconstitutional.
If you want a class protected Constitutionally, get it amended. Don't rely on courts to do what the minority cannot...

Why is that? Why cant all humans in this country be seen equal under the law?

States lack the authority to do this.
Gender is already a protected classification.
If we were all seen as equal there would be no need for welfare, food stamps, pell grants, tax deductions, etc... as everyone would be expected to take care of themselves and perform equally as well as their neighbor...
If you receive social welfare you arent seen as equal under the law? Tell me again how you can be fired if you receive food stamps? Tell me again how you can be fired if a "religion" disagrees with you receiving food stamps? Tell me again how you can be denied a certain right if you receive food stamps.
Get the government out of the marriage business.
No, you tell me why I don't receive the same benefit...
You are seen as equal under the law. You are in no way not given the same benefits if you fall to that level. Its called a social safety net. Its like saying "I am not 65 or 66 why dont I get medicare or social security"? Do older people have "more rights than you"? No, they do not.

Oh. So having to meet established preconditions in order to access a benefit doesn't constitute being denied equality under the law? That's interesting.
Then you agree everyone is not treated equally (Medicare and SS were not mentioned for a specific reason)...
Ohh old people have more rights than you? Let me know when that is taken seriously.
