See: Judge's blistering ruling halts Florida's ban on gender-affirming care for minors

"In a strongly worded ruling, a federal judge said that minors who filed suit against Florida's gender-affirming care bans would "suffer irreparable harm." An appeal to the injunction is expected."
If I were the Governor of Florida, I would hold a press conference and tell the sexual deviant federal judge Hinkle to keep his nose out of a subject matter reserved by the States under the Tenth Amendment, and recently affirmed by the U.S. Supreme Court in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization

I have no doubt that pedo grooming scumbags across the country will celebrate this judges ruling.

You guys were so busy packing SCOTUS with reactionary religious revivalists you left sane judges in the lower courts.

Hinkle is a "sane" judge?

The nitwits at NPR (which ought to be known as National Propaganda Radio) point out Judge Hinkle called the ban , "an exercise in politics, not good medicine." And he said it amounts to purposeful discrimination.”

But the fact is, the very purpose of criminal law is to discriminate, e.g., every state has discriminatory laws prohibiting the sale of cigarettes and alcohol to minors. And the Florida law is directed at minors. Additionally, there is nothing in the federal Constitution prohibiting state laws making distinctions based upon sex other than with respect to voting. Hinkle needs to keep his nose out of a State regulatory matter.

Why on earth would anyone encourage an irreversible mutilation procedure to be performed on a minor when therapy ought to be pursued until the subject is mature enough to make such a life altering change?

Why don't we allow doctors therapists and parents decide instead of politicians playing to their base? Like the judge said,

Mutilation's definition involves damage to the body that impedes one's quality of life.

Thus, while it is tempting to use the term here because of its emotional impact, like calling a fetus a child, isn't a valid application of the word.

In fact, the opposite is true. Gendering affirming care results in an improvement of the quality of life for the patients.

We are talking about an irreversible procedure on a minor.

Why not find out for yourself why before forming a hard and fast opinion against it?

Is the "big guy" getting a piece of the child mutilation action?

I got this gut feeling that the “big guy” is somehow getting his piece of the action for promoting taxpayer financed, child mutilation surgery.

We are here today and gone tomorrow, but what is most important is what we do in between, and is what our children will inherit and remember us by.

Maybe if we put them up against the fervent prayers the two will self-annihilate.

This. Even looking at the data, there's nothing supporting the idea this is an issue among those who receive this care in terms of regret for having gone through it. Interesting that parents rights are parents rights, until they're not.

I tend to agree with the sentiment of your point, but I don’t think that your good advice should be enforced by the government.

It is a difficult call. Check out the following video.

Let's be real: You rightwingers are only interested in conversion therapy for minors.

Is that your adolescent post for the day, or is there more to come?

That is for the doctors and their patients to decide, not reactionary bigots who don't have the first clue what is or isn't good for trans children. Once again belying the idea that conservatives are EVER pro-freedom or limited government.

The judge is exactly correct. Idiotic politics getting in the way of good medicine.

If you don't understand the logical difference between gender affirming care and nicotine addiction, that proves you're ignorant as hell and you shouldn't have a goddamn say in this matter, and the exact purpose of limited government is to protect the marginalized and vulnerable from people like you.

We are talking about an irreversible procedure and an adolescent making that life altering change.

Comparing it to laws around cigarettes is absurd, since cigarettes are not medical care. Secondly, gender affirming care does not immediately go to the step you're referring to. Of course you don't distinguish between people who are transgender and not receiving care versus those who do; the point of transgender care is to treat Gender dysphoria. The Canadian study you cited also states there isn't enough information yet either, however you want to make a determination without the data to back it up. What we do know is that among people who have transitioned, the regret rate is really low.

The article concludes:

"It is most unfortunate that our government and most social-media platforms continue to stifle these important discussions — just as they did, with catastrophic results, during the Covid pandemic. What is really needed now is not the suppression of opinions but open and robust debate in the medical community and among the public as to how we might best treat children for what might be an essentially psychological condition. The Swedes have outlined the proper scientific approach to this most delicate and controversial question."

Pushing transgender individuals outside of their identity is not a legitimate state interest.
