Federal judge halts deportation of unaccompanied Guatemalan children

Your characterization doesn’t make me any more inclined to ship kids off to another part of the world into the hands of “opportunists”

🤷‍♀️

The Biden Junta and their Cartel Partners imported these children largely for the purpose of human trafficking of them. Returning them to their native countries makes them far safer than they were in the Biden child sex slave markets.

I can not believe how gullible Trump cheerleaders are. If this was being done properly, don’t you think there would have been some photo opp or press release? Look! We are uniting parents and children!

The Trump admin didn’t want attention drawn to this. As per usual, the Trump admin was doing whatever they want and hoping no one notices.

Trump supporters want the U.S. government to ignore the due process rights of immigrant children, and are perfectly fine with the U.S. government trying to sneak them out in the middle of the night in an effort to violate the law and avoid a judge's scrutiny.

Let that sink in.

oh please with the pearl clutching rant. the parents requested they be allowed to reunite.
Some government bureaucrat told you so, therefore it's true.

Kids finally going home to their parents...
Are they? Or were you just told this by the government and you believe everything they say?

Side note: are you pro-human trafficking, by any chance?

Guatemalan Foreign Affairs Minister Carlos Martínez said Friday that the government has told the U.S. it is willing to receive hundreds of Guatemalan minors who arrived unaccompanied to the United States and are being held in U.S. facilities.

Guatemala is particularly concerned about minors who could age out of the facilities for children and be sent to adult detention centers, he said. The exact number of children to be returned remains in flux, but they are currently discussing a little over 600. He said no date has been set yet for their return.

That would be almost double what Guatemala previously agreed to. The head of the country's immigration service said last month that the government was looking to repatriate 341 unaccompanied minors who were being held in U.S. facilities.

“The idea is to bring them back before they reach 18 years old so that they are not taken to an adult detention center,” Guatemala Immigration Institute Director Danilo Rivera said at the time. He said it would be done at Guatemala’s expense and would be a form of voluntary return.

The plan was announced by President Bernardo Arévalo
, who said then that the government had a moral and legal obligation to advocate for the children. His comments came days after U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem visited Guatemala.

And? Do you know why the law in question exists? We have a process to make sure the children aren't being sent back into slavery and human trafficking. Do you want to just skip that process?

Yes, the Guatemalan government wants to help these kids. So do I. I want to make sure it's done properly. And when a government like Trump's that has been so ****ing sloppy that it is arresting American citizens on suspicion of being here illegally, I don't trust them to do it without judges and lawyers looking over their shoulders at every step.

Is this an unreasonable position?
