"A criminal complaint was filed in the Southern District of Georgia today charging Reality Leigh Winner, 25, a federal contractor from Augusta, Georgia, with removing classified material from a government facility and mailing it to a news outlet, in violation of 18 U.S.C. Section 793(e).

Winner was arrested by the FBI at her home on Saturday, June 3, and appeared in federal court in Augusta this afternoon.

“Exceptional law enforcement efforts allowed us quickly to identify and arrest the defendant,” said Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein. “Releasing classified material without authorization threatens our nation’s security and undermines public faith in government. People who are trusted with classified information and pledge to protect it must be held accountable when they violate that obligation.”

And if that is what it was, that website stated in their article that it was top secret. so they knowingly and intentionally printed classified information. They should be prosecuted too.

This is the sort of thing which has been HIGHLY encouraged by the atmosphere surrounding the so-called #Resistance movement, with leakers being hailed as heroes, news cycles breathlessly and irresponsibly driven by legions of anonymous sources, government agencies setting up "rogue" accounts to defy the Administration, etc., etc.

She's not the only one, and she won't be the last.

I think she stupidly walked into a government sting operation.

What I find interesting is that both the Intercept and one of the Mainstream networks...CBS?..."independently" confirmed the classified material. I think more heads will roll.

Obama's NSA admitted to the illegal unmasking of American citizens and the NSAs own IG reported the unmasking was wide spread and involved Americans caught up in upstream searches, or Americans who didnt have direct contact with Foreign agents.

The NSA first reported their violations to FISA back in 2011 and in 2015 were censured by FISA for not stopping the practice and under reporting their violations

Its the NSA illegally unmasking American citizens, and obviously for Political reasons.
It happened at least from 2010 to 2015 according to FISA's own opinion, and given that unmaskings increased right before the election, it doesnt look like they ever stopped.

Why else would the NSA need to break the law again and again and again, etc, etc ,etc to do their jobs effectively if it wasnt for Political reasons ?

This was typical of the Obama administration to weaponize the Govt against anyone who stood in their way, this is also typical of dictatorships, banana republics third world hell holes around the globe.

So no, its not just one Bernie supporter from Georgia, it was happening inside the NSA, and the NSA was warned by FISA in 2011and 2 015 and still they continued.
