(CNN) FBI arrests suspect in connection with intelligence leaks

CNN

A member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard was arrested by the FBI on Thursday in connection with the leaking of classified documents that have been posted online, according to a US official familiar with the matter.
The arrest of Jack Teixeira, 21, comes following a fast-moving search by the US government for the identity of the leaker who posted classified documents to a social media platform popular with video gamers.
Teixeira had been identified by The New York Times ahead of his arrest Thursday as the leader of the group where a trove of classified documents was posted.

We got him!

My hope is Justice is quick, and very public.

It's also my hope Trump/Republicans/MAGA-World come to unity with us in this matter.

I firmly believe politically accepting the Edward Snowdens of the world, along with the portrayal of the U.S. Government / Law Enforcement / Judicial System as "the enemy", is an extremely dangerous trajectory.

Again, hopefully we come together in the prosecution of this individual.

I think it's funny that the leaker was caught because somebody leaked the info from where he published it. If it had stayed inside the original group of ~30 people, who knows if he'd have ever been caught.

Can’t wait for Trump to share his take on this.

I literally just touched on this subject in the UKR War Thread.

I believe the attacks on government / law enforcement / judicial system is extremely dangerous. This includes accepting & even celebrating guys like Edward Snowden.

We've become cavalier in matters of law, order, unity, and security.

I'm truly at a loss to understand how this all has come about. But today we see how UKR literally is modifying their counter-offensive plans in response to the leak. And UKR is nor claiming distrust! Think about that? It's shocking! Absolutely disgusting.

If you’re Snowden and you expose the biggest conspiracy to violate the Constitution in history then that should be embraced. If you’re this guy and you’re exposing the narrative of Ukraine’s success as the fraud that it is and espionage committed against our allies then perhaps not.

you don't know exactly all of what was leaked...and I don't find Snowden a hero nor did I find this idiot one....both should be subjected to the death penalty for treason.

My concern is the wider societal acceptance of this type of behaviour. Edward Snowden is revered & celebrated by many, including our politicos.

This ethos is extremely dangerous, IMNSHO. UKR had to change their counter-offensive plans, and have echo'd we can't be trusted.

This is not playtime!

And, perhaps I disagree.

These guys are putting lives & national security at risk. And accepting them or even revering them, is an extremely dangerous path to be on. As we can see, here.

Sorry, no individual has the right to overthrow what we as a society instate for our societal betterment. Whether that be an election, or national security.

I have personal compunction in matters of the death penalty (I'm Catholic). But, I otherwise fully agree here.

Seems his motivation was self-elevation, a noble pursuit, right?

Long ago, my circle of friends that I kept up with via LL, used to joke about who was listening in to our calls. In the late 1990s, there was a leak about something called “Carnivore.” It was understood that all electronic communications were being monitored for buzz words and phrases that warranted further scrutiny. If NSA or some similar agency isn’t monitoring everything that is transmitted, they aren’t doing their job.

Hopefully he gets a life sentence.

Given that UKR has had to reconfigure their coming counter-offensive, and they have voiced public distrust of us, you may have a point. I really hate to strike so hard at a young person, as I very much believe in redemption. But this is pretty heinous stuff.

Given the number of UKR deaths every day in the war, this individual may be responsible for a significant loss of life.

I am also Catholic...but in matters such as this innocent people can die...so, I believe that it is merited.

It's personal choice. I respect yours, and without animus. I seem to be the minority in this matter among my fellow Americans.

Society did not instate nullification of the 4th Amendment by the NSA. That’s why they got their asses handed to them in court.

I am very specific with my support of the death penalty...it is very rare for me....if that person has placed other lives in danger and committed treason...or is a serial killer that we have no doubt for the guilt of.

All government entities & agencies run into Constitutional conflicts from time-to-time. It's inevitable, and part of the process.

But these leaks result in lives put in danger, and that's the problem.

Which court case are you speaking of, here?

I agree but what about Trump? Do we have different standards for different people?

It's starting to seem that way, doesn't it?

Trump is an enabler, without doubt.

It's not treason.
