Fauci says time to work on reopening.

After warning about the consequences of reopening too quickly, Dr. Anthony Fauci said on Friday that now is a good time for states to begin the process of reopening.

"Now is the time, depending on where you are and what your situation is, to begin seriously looking at reopening the economy," the nation's leading infectious disease expert said in an interview on CNBC. "I'm totally in favor of that, if done in the proper way in the appropriate setting."

Don't forget to emphasise his conditional statement ... "totally in favor of reopening the country if it is done appropriately and cautiously."

"He said as states reopen people should take precautions such as wearing masks, social distancing and staying away from crowds."

Yes, obviously the lockdown is harmful, and the goal is to find a reasonable compromise. There are too many Democrats who can only see one side of it, especially if they have plenty of money and are not being inconvenienced too much themselves.

Sounds great.

At this point I say open the whole country open up as Trump is pushing and not with precautions like Fauci is suggesting. Let the chips fall where they may. I'd venture to say the majority of people that end up running out to socialize, may catch it and then possibly die will be the same people who would be flocking to a Trump rally if he had the balls to actually hold one. Maybe they can get some cool little Trump shaped hydroxychloroquine tablets as a parting gift.

Absolutely, that's the key that most conservatives want to ignore. All they hear is "it's time to start opening" they overlook the important part, the key to not expanding and exploding this pandemic any further than it should.

The big risk with that situation is that those reckless people will pass it to others that are trying their best to avoid being infected. When you have a bunch of people being casual about contact with others, others will catch it and not all those others will be people that are as reckless as they are. Small children, teens, older, younger, every age group will be susceptible to the virus brought to them by someone that's careless. And those are the people that don't deserve to die due to someone else's carelessness.

But-but the economy isn't far enough into the tank yet, this isn't good. Dems need people to be poor and desperate, it's the only plan that ever works for them.

"This is their new hoax."

That was a good plan.

It was Birx at today's briefing. Fauci and Trump are in it together.
The link quote Fauci. Not sure what you mean by "in it together".

If you actually believe that, I pity you. The Democrats didn't cause COVID. The Democrats didn't make COVID worse. The Democrats did not exploit COVID for political advantage. In case the cluelessness of your post was unintentional COVID has affected the entire planet.

Like hell they didn't. They're exploiting the **** out if it.

No, they're not. Who in their right mind politicizes a global pandemic on an internet board completely evidence free? It's ****ing stupid.

I 100% acknowledge that and yet what's becoming obvious (not with just posts in here or around the internet, but also personal Trump induced family and friends) is nothing is going to stop the people hell bent on hitting up their local bar and going home to risk their family. They are simply convinced the shut down wasn't needed, some convinced the entire thing was to "get Trump" so they won't wear a mask (following Trump's example) and fk people who don't follow that line of thought.

When I was a kid my parents would warn me about dangers. I usually listened but on occasion I'd deny their knowing better and generally I learned the hard way that they were in fact right. The exception being if I cracked my knuckles I get end up with huge swollen fingers.

I have a relative in another state who has his 80 year old mother living with them. When this all started he was in a frenzy that people off a cruise ship could be entering their state. HIS MOTHER could get infected!! Now? We need everything open and masks are silly!! My thought is hey, you're 80 year old mother is the one you could kill. Let him live with the decision to go from the how dare the state allow Covid people to enter, to hey I can venture out and bring it home myself, that's all different.

I'll continue my personal choices which won't be putting anyone at risk.

What did Rahm Emanuel always say? "Never let a serious crisis go to waste".

Fauci the Fraud.

Something like that, but Rahm Emanuel doesn't speak for the Democratic party any more than Steve King speaks for the Republicans. Cherry picking stupid quotes is not an effective debate tactic.

To be fair, that's never stopped Democrats from doing such things in the past...

Exactly. Why in the world is Fauci encouraging this in any capacity?

welp...there goes the leftist support for Fauci. If we reopen too soon, Congress wont pass more handout checks.

You won't see me defending Democrats, but justifying bad behavior because someone else did it is a kindergartner's excuse for doing the wrong thing.

I completely agree. But it's basically all Democrats have going for them, sadly. Hopefully they put forth a good candidate at some point.
