Hello! My sister have 3 kids and she owns a bakeshop. She is asking my suggestion on what vehicle she will get that she can use for family and also for her business. Any suggestions? Thanks!

needs on the auto?

does she want a wagon, a van, a sports utility, a sedan?

A (used?) minivan might be the best choice. Minivans have both ample passenger and cargo capacity, easiiy convert to maximize either, and offer good fuel mileage and insurance rates. Being able to write off (most of?) the cost may make leasing a good option as well.

I tend to agree with this. The only other option would be something like maybe a pickup with full cab and a topper on the back. When I say pickup I mean a small frame like Tacoma too. 2 wheel drive unless she REALLY wants a 4 wheel (good luck I couldn't find any under $25k used...they last too damn long).

What kind of price range and Milage? Are light trucks out? Mini vans? Station wagons? SUVs are nice, but you have to be picky about them.

A small pickup offers less of either passenger or cargo capacity but does make a better tow vehicle if one prefers even greater (yet optional) cargo capacity. They generally get worse fuel mileage and, as you said, require a cap (or bed cover) for all weather cargo capacity.

I am not sure if I am the right one to ask having no kids, no bakery shop and having driven the same droptop for decades. But I drive a lot of cars and would say that I liked the Mercedes ML 320 that my brother in law drives and the Mercedes Brake station waggon he was driving the other day.

True. You lose a couple seats. Most she will get is 5. And the topper can be had pretty easy (tonneau cover or hard shell). She would lose fuel Milage. But it all depends on how much cargo we are talking here.

But there are a few light truck options out there like Nissan and Toyota.

Speaking of Nissan Murano's are not a horrible option depending on how many seats she needs. Good safety ratings and a decent size carrying capacity for cargo with the folding seats. Good fuel mileage and they're actually pretty nice and easy to drive vehicles my mother had one. I love driving it. I hate the new Ford explores though they suck. Visibility is crap.

A Honda element is not a bad vehicle. Good safety ratings from what I have seen and they get good gas mileage and have a lot more cargo capacity as long as you don't have people in there. Also jeeps

We just bought a GMC Acadia and I have to say that it's a good vehicle.

Roomy for passengers, 4, with fold down seats giving you lots of cargo room for the bakery.

The ride is good, handles both bumps and corners better than you'd expect, really well infact, and the interior doesn't suck (like Chevys).

Worth a test drive, I'd say.

My Wife drove a Honda Odyssey for several years, and it was just about the most practical
vehicles we ever had.

I like the looks of the Ford Flex van. Have never used one, but the people I have spoken to who own one really like them.

Seven passengers and storage in the back.

Subaru Forester. 23k, seats 4, and has tons of cargo space. Highest rated SUV, best resale value. Standard AWD, power everything.

We're considering that one.
Seats 4? The rear isn't a bench seat?
