No cash for flight delays as Trump administration scraps Biden-era rule

The Biden Administration had considered requiring airlines to pay travelers upwards of $200 for lengthy flight delays, but that plan has been dropped.

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump's administration said on Thursday it will drop a plan by his predecessor to require airlines to pay passengers cash compensation when U.S. flight disruptions are caused by carriers.

In December, the U.S. Department of Transportation under then-President Joe Biden sought public comment on the rulemaking process about whether airlines should be required to pay $200-$300 for domestic delays of at least three hours and up to $775 for longer delays. U.S. airlines sharply criticized the proposal.

The White House said in a document posted on Thursday that the DOT plans to withdraw the notice "consistent with department and administration priorities."

Taking Trump to the woodshed over this is easy:

Stop flying.

A mass boycott of airlines just for vacation travel would be enough. Or we can do things like choose a particular airline to wipe out of business, then choose the next, and keep doing it until he goes crawling back to the Resolute Desk to reverse this move in disgrace.

Either way, treating Trump to a FAFO moment is easy to do here.

We need to organize a boycott. Nonviolent nonparticipation is something quite powerful. Enough so to force Trump to submit when he sees the airline industry starving to death en masse on his watch.
