New York (CNN Business)Facebook (FB) on Thursday said it had take action against ads run by President Trump's re-election campaign for breaching its policies on hate. The ads, which attacked what the Trump campaign described as "Dangerous MOBS of far-left groups," featured an upside-down triangle. The Anti-Defamation League said Thursday the triangle "is practically identical to that used by the Nazi regime to classify political prisoners in concentration camps."
"We removed these posts and ads for violating our policy against organized hate. Our policy prohibits using a banned hate group's symbol to identify political prisoners without the context that condemns or discusses the symbol," Andy Stone, a Facebook spokesperson, told CNN Business.

Did Zuckerberg finally grow a spine? I think his own staff finally got to him.

Trump is attempting to mainstream nazi symbols.

OP link:

....The Anti-Defamation League said Thursday the triangle "is practically identical to that used by the Nazi regime to classify political prisoners in concentration camps."....Responding to criticism of the ad earlier Thursday, the Trump campaign claimed the red triangle was "a symbol widely used by Antifa."...

Waiting for the right wing spin, this will be impressive to see. Think they’ll come up with a ridiculous alternate symbolism or just ignore that part completely and screech “censorship” over and over?

Trump also spoke of putting Muslim on registry. This brings truth to first wife statement about one book Trump has read. Donald Trump'''s ex-wife: Trump kept book of Hitler'''s speeches by bed - Business Insider

'for violating our policy against organized hate'

Who's running Trump's campaign?!

That's the last thing you want Facebook to say, that Trump violated a policy against organized hate.

Couldn't one of his staffers checked the ad over before releasing it?

They're going all out to stop Trump's re-election.

If rejecting advertisements that use symbols the Nazis labeled their political prisoners with hurts Trump's re-election chances, you should think about what that means.

Both Twitter and Facebook should ban him.

Do you think this is equivalent?

Tell me why you support the Trump campaign using Nazi symbols in their advertising. I’m all ears.

I really don't care that they used a shape (a triangle) with some obscure connection to Nazi Germany. The fact that you have to find stuff like this shows how minimal the connection is (it's certainly far more minimal than the connections between the American left and Stalinism).

You think they picked that symbol entirely by coincidence and also didn’t explain the random ass triangle for some reason? Man, I knew these mental gymnastics were going to be fun. Do go on!

Your argument is that Nazi symbolism is something "you have to find?" Is that what you're saying?

It doesn't stick out like a sore thumb to you, so you can safely ignore it. Denial and rationalization. Not a good argument.

It's only a meaningless coincidence.

How many colors and symbols are there really?

They were bound to stumble upon some bad symbols eventually.

If they just happen to pick pink triangles, yellow 6-pointed stars, and swastikas too, what of it?

...only coincidence...

Certainly not a time to go around firing the people responsible for picking a Nazi symbol.
The people who picked this symbol for Team Trump are very fine people.

I do not care about the triangle. If someone in the campaign put it there solely to troll liberals, congratulations to them, it worked. If there's another explanation for it, that's fine too.

Can you imagine if conservatives freaked out over every tenuous connection between liberals and communists? Heck, the last Democratic President was the protege of an actual communist terrorist who plotted to murder twenty five million Americans. And neither of his opponents ever brought it up.

Yeah. I never knew how the Nazis identified communist prisoners. And I never would've if not for the current freak out.

Okay. Learn something new every day. Many are aware of the symbolism. Now that you know it, can you condemn it?

It's just a triangle. It can't hurt you, no matter how much you identify with its former bearers.

Well, I do agree with that generally. As George Carlin said, "Symbols are for the symbolminded."

This is a bit different, though. Though the symbol itself is harmless, the ideology behind it is not. We fought a world war over it. I will always condemn Nazis, neo-Nazis and other fascists. That Trump targets their support is quite troubling.
