I don't welcome everyone, especially supporters of the malignant narcissist scumbag piece of shit liar grifter rapist seditionist felon serial adulterer and tax cheat. A public school class that wants its students to feel welcome is quite different. I'm surprised you can't tell the difference.

Welcome doesn't equate to tolerance, though. I think that's an important thing to remember.

Philosophical question: is welcome really welcome if it comes with strings attached?

As I've said here, those with the most problematic views are those who require education the most. They can and should be welcome. The rules of the establishment should prevent their problematic views from hurting anyone else.
 
The school's policy is for Teachers not to use their class rooms for pushing personal ideology.

"Everyone is welcome" is an expression of national education code as well as federal education law..

Students. The sign was directed at students. All students are welcome. I know that contradicts today's maga and conservatives values.

All I can figure is that, for those that object to a message like that, for them, everyone isn't welcome, but they are afraid to say it out loud (for now), so they have to drape their abhorrent behavior in inuendo and metaphor while they gaslight us all while paying lip service to biblical and Constitutional teachings.

I've come to realize that America's civil war isn't between the right and the left, the proletariat and bourgeois, I mean, those groups represent real opposition, but the real divide in the US has shifted to those devoid of empathy and compassion and those with an over abundance of it and the rest of us in the middle who are capable of more nuanced feelings about things.

And perhaps even worse are those that lack empathy and take joy in the misery they cause. For those people the harm and suffering caused is cathartic.

Now, I get pretty annoyed when people toss around the word "evil". What do you do to evil? Anything you want, everything is justified, it is after all evil. That would should be used carefully.

Now might be one of those times? Anyone who knowingly causes suffering misery without shame or guilt and worse takes joy in the misery and suffering they cause. That. is. evil. Anyone who supports it, and shares in the joy, that's evil.

My catharsis will be felt when these people are brought to justice to answer for their misdeeds.

No I didn't name groups or people, many of you will almost certainly immediately think of someone, but if your first thought is a teacher that hangs a sign that says "everyone welcome", you may want to consider what I just said.

Let the gaslighting, manipulation, emotional responses, wordplay, whataboutism, rationalizations and justifications begin. :rolleyes:

The teacher was actually restating a similar sign that said "Everyone is welcome here" and has or had hung in the school for years.

However, this is a politically mixed school district and according to some articles some students have been making denigrating remarks to minority students. None of the articles would state who had been denigrating whom. It's not too hard to guess given the examples of empowered Trumpists on this site.

Apparently the elected school board reflects the Trump conservatives' view that everybody is fair game for their endless bigotry.

It contradicts government policy of sending armed thugs into schools to root out kids who aren't welcome and send them to countries they've never seen or don't remember.

Its for the sake of our country.

Before that, the sign was fine. And the country was fine.

But its the teacher who is politicizing it.

Speaking of which, has anyone checked the classroom maps around the country to assure none of them show "The Gulf of Mexico?"
