FOXNews.com - 'Everybody Draw Mohammed' Page Briefly Vanishes Due to Facebook Glitch

The original "Everybody Draw Mohammed Day!" Facebook page -- with more than 80,000 followers -- vanished briefly from the website Thursday, causing some users to accuse the social networking giant of censorship before the controversial page reappeared on the site.

80,000 followers, wow. This thread isn't to highlight the supposed censorship, but to give credit to the creator of the page and those who joined it.

I'm not anti-Islamic, but it's time that people stood up to the threats being issued by those who seek to deny freedom of speech.

Well, it can be confirmed then that at least 80,000 Facebook users are dicks.

And before anyone lays into me, I don't needlessly antagonize Christians because of the acts of a few douchebags either since the overwhelming majority that I've met are pretty nice people.

I think people who race into this sort of thing need to take a couple steps back and look at the bigger picture.

So the best way to stand up to those issuing threats is to insult the religion of the rest of the Muslims that have nothing to do with those threats? Yeah, great plan there

Right. We should just ignore their motivation, what they are taught and how they lived just to placate everyone else.

Yeah, great plan there

So you admit you are Anti-Muslim, thank you.

Some things warrant ridicule TheNextEra. The fact that most media outlets, like Comedy Central, refuse to show even the most harmless depiction for fear of violence is the problem. They don't wanna be a target, and I feel this Facebook group is a solution of sorts simply because there would be too many targets for any one individual to rationally be afraid of some extremist.

Pointing out the barbaric responses to mere cartoons, or the evil in Theo Van Gogh's murder is NOT insulting, its a warranted calling a spade a spade.

So you admit you are Anti-Muslim, thank you.

Never once said that that but making up facts seems to be your favorite pastime when you can't debate the subject at hand.

You're claiming that it is ok with insulting an entire religion just because some make threats.

You are Anti-Muslim, sorry you don't like the truth.

lol

Drawing Mohammad is not offensive to all Muslims and if you had a clue about the faith you would know that.

Really? Show me which Muslims don't think it is insulting to draw Muhammed with a bomb? Go ahead, I won't hold my breath though.

Where does the author say that Mohammad will be drawn with a bomb?

Put up or shut up NextEra.

Well I looked at the facebook page... and alot of them are with Mohammed with a bomb, so...

So not all will be drawing with a bomb nor does that prove it was the author's intent that they all be drawn with a bomb so the premise was again dead wrong.

I say rock on to all that drew Mohammad! I tried, but my attempts at "art" truly ARE offensive. Not for the content, rather the lack of talent displayed when I attempt to create art offends all who look upon it.

And what's wrong with being "Anti-Islamic"? We have people on this forum lauded for being Anti-Christian. Lauded for their attacks on Evangelicals.

But even suggest something that might maybe offend a Muslim and you get people like TNE to step in and act like you are a bigot.

The irony is, these 80k people, are trying to highlight the ignorance, the cowardice of the west when it comes to angry muslims... and TNE is playing poster boy... funny when you think about it.

I don't really give a flying **** about who draws muhammed or not, if they want to, all power to them.

But at the end of the day... why are we doing this? I mean I understand what happened with the danish cartoon years ago and how they got so angry, but wouldn't it just be better to live and let live, to respect them and their beliefs and culture, then maybe they'd respect us. I mean, I just don't understand why this has to happen. I'd understand if it were muslims organizing this to open up their religion (and I'm sure there are some doing this) but to the muslim world, it's just a bunch of western assholes dissing them, and all the more reason for them to get pissed off with us.

Yep because not wanting to insult an entire religion is cowardice.

At least you admit being Anti-Muslim.

We are doing this to dilute the attempts of a few to squash free speech via threats and intimidation. It is to take a stand and show that we will not be intimidated, nor will we stand to allow their threats to have any sort of relevance whatsoever.

So those drawing offensive cartoons of Mohammad are just freedom fighters without any mal-intent to the entire religion? Really?

yes really, it is a protest over their attempts to undermine the principles of free speech.

Are there some participating that hate Islam?/ yes, of course, just as there are many who do not hate Islam, but do hate ANY group or segment of a group that would try to limit freedom of speech and or expression via threats of violence and actual violence.

Where did I "Admit" anything? I asked a question, to highlight your hypocrisy.

Amazing how you read things no one writes.

I've yet to see a single respectful depiction of Muhammed meant to stand up for freedom of speech. I've only seen hateful images attacking every adherent of Islam and mocking their beliefs. In retrospect, it's been exactly as venemous and juvenile as an internet based "Everybody draw <religious figure> day" should be expected to be

The bigger picture is that people who get all upset about others violating THEIR precious silly religious constraints are dicks. Time for them to grow up and realize that people who don't believe that Islam nonsense don't have to obey the nonsensical islamic rules.

It took two thousand years for the Christians to stop persecuting the Jews and now they mind their own business. How about if the muslims grow up and start minding their own business, and leave other people alone?

If I could draw, and I can't, I'd submit a picture of a dog taking a dump, and the Prophet's face would be in the turds.

You object?

You're offended?

Cite you exact comments when you heard about the "art" depicting the Virgin Mary crafted from elephant dung.

It's called freedom of expression. My only objection to that "art" was the fact that taxpayer money was wasted to fund it. That's flat wrong.

I was thinking about drawing Mo, holding a sabre in one hand and a little girl with the other. With a real devilish grin.

Think that would make the webpage?
