I don't really give a flying **** about who draws muhammed or not, if they want to, all power to them.

But at the end of the day... why are we doing this? I mean I understand what happened with the danish cartoon years ago and how they got so angry, but wouldn't it just be better to live and let live, to respect them and their beliefs and culture, then maybe they'd respect us. I mean, I just don't understand why this has to happen. I'd understand if it were muslims organizing this to open up their religion (and I'm sure there are some doing this) but to the muslim world, it's just a bunch of western assholes dissing them, and all the more reason for them to get pissed off with us.

It's time to start rubbing their noses in the fact that they don't have the right to control the actions of other people.

I've yet to see a single respectful depiction of Muhammed meant to stand up for freedom of speech. I've only seen hateful images attacking every adherent of Islam and mocking their beliefs. Of course. But being as juvenile and crass as possible is a poor way to make a point or try to take a moral high ground. Simple, respectful depictions such as can be found on the Supreme Court building make a point. The trash I've seen today confirms everything that makes certain muslims angry about depictions of Muhammed

because it is an example of exactly what you said you had not been able to find -a respectful observance of the purpose of this day, and because of the narrative that accompanies the drawing, and the salient points made.
