And stop denying the absolute evils of slavery.

Will MAGA let them? I think not. Much too powerful.

Maybe the most powrrful song i have ever heard. Scratch that. It is the most powerful song i have ever heard. You can't sweep this under a rug.

I doubt very highly that there are any high school history textbooks that describe slavery as anything other than completely horrible.

Who do you know that denies the evils of slavery?

Why would "MAGA" not let anyone watch this video?

Who is sweeping our past history of slavery under a rug?

Florida’s public schools will now teach students that some Black people benefited from slavery because it taught them useful skills, part of new African American history standards approved Wednesday that were blasted by a state teachers' union as a “step backward.”

The Florida State Board of Education’s new standards includes controversial language about how “slaves developed skills which, in some instances, could be applied for their personal benefit,” according to a 216-page document about the state’s 2023 standards in social studies, posted by the Florida Department of Education....

...Black history: Florida’s new teaching standards include the same language that scored national blowback last year for requiring middle school students to learn “how slaves developed skills which, in some instances, could be applied for their personal benefit.”

Critics, including Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.), urged the state to reconsider that language. And others criticized the state’s phrasing on crucial lessons surrounding the 1920 Ocoee massacre and the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, which are labeled as violence perpetrated “against and by” African Americans.

But these lessons went unchanged, triggering further objection Wednesday from the Florida Education Association teachers union and free speech advocacy group PEN America, among others.

“It still refers to slavery as having a potential benefit,” Andrew Spar, president of the FEA, said during the state board meeting in Miami. “And that is a concern, as well as making sure that our students have a complete and honest history around both the African American experience and all experiences in our country.”...

Let's wait until the textbooks come out. Then we can judge. We won't know what's in it until we pass it........

No "waiting" is necessary: Look up and read the title and sub title of the nbcnews article:

The standards, which were blasted by a statewide teachers' union as a "step backward," were approved Wednesday by the State Board of Education.

Then, READ the excerpt from the politico article (Post #5). Oh, heck, I'll make it easier for you - I'll copy and paste it, yet again:

The rightwing US textbooks that teach slavery as ‘black immigration’

"exclusively refers to immigrants as “aliens”"

All immigrants or undocumented immigrants?

"Another blames the Black Lives Matter movement for strife between communities and police officers"

Ok, and?

This article is nothing but pablum and is taking tons out of context. Like I said before, I would like to actually read one or two of these textbooks before I judged whether or not they were deliberately sweeping history under the rug.

Strife between communities and police weren't "caused by black lives matter", it existed before black lives matter, that is what they were protesting.

You know that right

Black Lives Matter was founded on a lie. You know the Michael Brown case, right?

Usually, people up to no good, no matter the color, are going to attract the attention of the police, or have the police called on them. Are there some bad cops? Of course. Is there systemic racism against blacks by police? No. The police patrol where the crime is. I live in Idaho bordering Oregon. Across the river it's a depressed area, alot of white trash. Do you think no one gets hassled by the cops because they are white? Also, the narrative about cops killing unarmed suspects is also false. You can be unarmed and still pose a threat to an officer. Put here's a way to put it in the simplest terms possible......Obey the law, don't hang out with criminals, and you will almost guarantee yourself to not have cops hassle you.

Noonereal:

A well made and jarring video. Creepy line-drawn, dancing ghosts of the past are haunting too. Physical bondage may have ended in America but wage-slavery is alive and well even today. The worst excesses of unbridled capitalism need to be tempered by powerful American states and the US Federal Government. Thank you for sharing the video.

Cheers and be well.

The notion that BLM "caused" the strife between commu ities and police that they were protesting is a BS lie.

Think it through.

I mean Chauvin’s district PD was infamous for the most brutal repression they could perform.
