Domestic leagues yes, but he has so far proven himself in the CL.
He's played magnificently against Bayern, Benfica and now Real Madrid.

I think he'll become a superstar in La Liga for a long time to come.
Some pundits in Dutch media have even said Barca got him for cheap
If he plays as good as Busquets or Xavi, then we can agree that it was cheap. But playing well in 6 games when a season is 40+ does not say much. Plus can he adapt to Spanish life? Some great players could not..look at Bale.

Who’s your pick right now Pete for the champions league? For me if Bayern can get past Liverpool they can’t be ruled out.

Hmm Barca of course.

But I really dunno. No teams are screaming OMFGS at the moment. Bayern have been hot and cold the whole season.. Man City has hit problems, Liverpool has hit problems. Juve who knows.. A. Madrid.. sure.

Look at it this way, Barca could easily go out to Lyon, and City to Schalke.

City become the third English team through to the last 8 and Ronaldo has given Juve hope.

Yep looks like it is the year of the English teams after almost decade of Spanish domination.

Personally I think Juve might have it this year and it will piss me off...not because Ronaldos ego will become even bigger, but the fact that Buffon left....he really deserves a CL trophy...feel sorry for him, such a great pro.

Wasn’t there an all English semi final last year

2017/2018 Quarter finals... Liverpool vs City. 3 Spanish teams in quarters. Real Madrid won.

2016/2017 only Leicester got to the quarters. 3 Spanish teams in quarters. Winner Real Madrid

2015/2016 City got to to the semi finals and lost to Real. 3 Spanish teams in quarters. Winner Real Madrid

2014/2015 No English team out of the round of 16. 3 Spanish teams in quarters. Winner Barcelona.

2013/2014 Chelsea in semi final, Man U in quarters. 3 Spanish teams in quarters. Winner Real Madrid

2012/2013 No English teams out of the round of 16. 3 Spanish teams in quarters. Winner Bayern.

2011/2012 Chelsea winners but only English team out of the round of 16. 2 Spanish teams in quarters and one in Semis.

2010/2011 United in final with Tottenham and Chelsea in quarters. Barcalona wins.

The last decade or so has not been kind to English football in the CL. Of course the half decade before was a golden period but still.

It might be the year but considering the last decade of bad luck... 2 English teams will meet each other in the quarters.. City vs United..

Madrid’s dominance of late is crazy especially considering they haven’t dominated La Liga

I hope Ajax draw ManC in the quarters, and here is why:

Very few teams wind up scoring 2 or more goals right after a huge 7-0 win like that.
So if we draw Citeh, get a first away goal, we might have a chance to beat them at home.

Hey, a little club like us can dream, cant we??!! :monkey

Well by the time we reached the knockout stages, Real were all but out of the la liga race for most of the years and meant they could focus on the CL. It is relatively rare for teams to win the domestic and CL in the same year.

Liverpool and Barca with very professional displays

You just know that there will be a Man U vs City or Man U vs Liverpool quarter final... That or a City vs Barca one.

United vs Liverpool would be insane theatre

132 million euro profit from Spurs.. Well they did not buy any players for over a year but still..and a new stadium.

Ajax beat Ronaldo and it is a future (most likely) Barcelona player that does it... [emoji16]

Barca fans celebrated deLigt's goal when it came on the jumbo screen. I am 90% sure he's going to wind up at Barcelona next season

Yea was hilarious...although to be honest it was mostly a celebration that Ronaldo was going out [emoji14]

Ronaldo is a great player, but with one outstanding player and the rest so-so players you will not win the champions league. When with Real Ronaldo had a group of also talented midfielders/attackers and a good defence, now the Juventus midfield was not up to the challenge and the defenders looked at times like they were in a different time zone to the Ajax players.

Without some more investments into younger defenders and more creative midfielders, I don't see Juve winning next years CL either.

One of the most crazy games ever tonight. Spurs going through on away goals. 4 goals in under 10 minutes from start...was nuts.

This is going to be Ajax versus Spurs (part Ajax). On the team of Spurs there are 4 former Ajax players, Vertonghen, Aldeirwereld, Eriksen and Sanchez, all played at one time for Ajax. For them, especially Vertonghen and Aldeirwereld it is going to be like coming home to the club they played for when their career got started.
