Define "works". Food deserts exist for a reason. A government grocery store in an "under-served neighborhood" is going to be robbed blind starting on the day of its grand opening.

Working would be providing a service to an underserved area.

They might get robbed… they might not.

That is why it is a pilot program.

Your video is of a country where the production of everything was state controlled.

This is not that.

Your idea of abolishing most if not all taxes is a very ill idea.

You will never know if your idea will work because human greed gets in the way

Yeah, hes not a communist. He just supports communist leaders elsewhere and believes a communist mayor is what NY needs.

It’s already destroying me. I have to deal with Medicare and Social Security, the latter which actually has “social” in its very name! And my wife has suffered by having pre-existing conditions mandated to be covered by the ACA. Pretty soon New York will have the government in charge of its buses and subway lines. Then the socialists will move on to their bigger goal, having government workers deliver mail to houses all across the country. And I’m told that the socialists have even started to control the price of insulin. Dark times are coming.

Pure capitalism and pure socialism have never existed. But what does matter is the direction we move in.

The closer a society moves toward capitalism, i.e. property rights, voluntary exchange, price signals, competition, then the faster living standards rise. That is a fact.

On the other hand, the closer it moves toward socialism: central planning, state control, forced equality, etc, the more miserable, stagnant, and murderous life becomes.

It's not about purity for me, it about trajectory.

I don't know much about Silwa. Is he a NYC moderate Republican, or a crazy MAGA hat? If the former, maybe he could be persuaded to drop out too.

I'll clutch my pearls when he actually starts campaigning and legislating like a communist.

Until then, I can't say his opposition which consists of literal criminals, corrupt officials and serial molesters is anywhere close to being a compelling alternative.

Bottom line, the remote possibility of a covert communist whose worst policy impulses (in the absolute worst case scenario he actually is one) will be reined in by law and legislatures vs brazen, certified crooks is a no brainer to me.

He's an active member of the DSA:

I did already.

No private profit means no capitalism. Popular control of resources and production means no capitalism. Economic planning means no capitalism.
