Enough People Crossed the Border in 2021 to Create the 10th-Largest City in the U.S.

Common sense doesn't exist in the liberal world, it is all about feelings, common sense tells me you don't change ideology by voting for the same ideology over and over again, the rule of law isn't open to interpretation

There is nothing about our legal system or the Rule of Law that mandates that we must be cruel to these people. This is a choice Republcians and Trump supporters make, and they make this choice because they don't consider these immigrants to be human beings. It's not about feelings. It's about Right v. Wrong. And our entire legal system is based on the idea that all human beings have individual rights. So, refraining from being cruel is not an act of ignoring our legal system, it's an act of supporting our legal system.

And I'm not talking about refusing them or deporting them. I am talking about kidnapping their children from their parents or keeping them locked for years, and so on. It's stupid and it's disgusting and it's unnecessarily cruel. And the Republicans and Trump supporters who advocate for these extreme policies are evil people.

And what about the Golden Rule. All you right-wingers pretend to be Christian but you never consider someone else's perspective.

Maybe it's the right thing to not be a ****ing asshole for no good reason? Maybe it's the right thing to not be a hateful, racist, cruel, spiteful jerk?

This is a claim, not a fact. Again the timing is important because during covid, inflow went down but that was not because of Trump's policies. And again, the issue is the balance of inflow and outflow. A president with a reduced inflow can still end up with higher illegal immigration if his deportation numbers are low.
It is a fact. Look at the numbers. Then look at the change when Biden reversed many of these policies.

Right, so you'd let a murderer walk your children to school?

Right, so you'd let a thief borrow your wallet?

Right, so you'd enter into a contract with someone else who had a known history of breaking the contract?

Right, so you'd not divorce an unfaithful spouse?

Right, so you'd continue to be friends with someone who stabbed you in the back?

You are making judgments all the time about another person's character in your daily life every day. Even with respect to politics, you think the "left" or Democrats have different values than you and you frequently castigate them for this difference in values. Every. Single. ****ing. Thread.

I understand that you are willing to overlook someone's poor character because you've adopted an ends justify the means approach.

I get it.

The point you don't seem to get is that someone with a poor character like Trump who cheated on his wife with a pornstar, obstructed justice, scammed people with a fake charity, committed tax crimes, committed campaign finance crimes, screwed over his subcontractors, and tried to coerce a foreign government into attacking his campaign opponent, and tried to overturn an election, and so on and so on and so on, will continue to do things that result in bad outcomes.

What you don't get is that someone's poor character has an impact on the ENDS, it's not just about the means.

You have a piece of shit con artist crook like Trump leading the U.S. or any other organization and that entity will suffer. That's the bottom line.

Trump is a bad leader for a variety of reasons, one of reasons is he is a piece of shit, he is a person who is a bad person and does selfish things and has bad moral character, and by ANY objective standard, even the moral standards of most Trump supporters!

You wouldn't let someone like Trump -- who wasn't Trump -- near you or your family. You wouldn't touch a person like that with a 10-foot pole. Be serious and be honest with yourself and everyone else. You know Trump is a piece of shit, and you know if he wasn't a television star, and you know if he wasn't trying to push your policies, you would reject him, he wouldn't be in your life. And for good reason! People who are pieces of shit do shitty things to other people.
Last I checked this isn't about murderers this is about immigration laws and who is allowed in this country like every other country in the world. What part of that don't you understand?

Name calling the President is childish and as usual diverts from reality and the thread topic. It truly is sad that someone like you has so much hatred for an individual who had zero negative effect on your and your family. What is it about liberalism that creates cult followers?

Don't break the law, problem solved. Kidnapping? So U.S. custom agents are going into Mexico, kidnapping kids and dropping them off at the border? Liberal fiction!

This is the way to assure liberalism remains in power permanently and turns U.S. states into third world countries
It would be the lowest crime rate city in the country.

I think we should have a secure border, and there should be some sort of punishment involved with breaking the law, maybe a fine for instance, but we should treat illegal immigrants the same way we treat citizens who trespass in my opinion.

And, in general, we should refrain from being cruel unless it's an absolute necessity.

There is a difference between a legal American citizen trespassing and a foreign national illegally entering this country

We were talking about Obama and Trump. And as to the Trump-Biden comparison, again you need to separate the effect of covid on immigration. The mere numbers do not tell you anything by themselves. Again, it is like using the higher number of encounters at the border today to argue that Biden's border security is more effective than Trump's. Mere reliance on a single number can be used to argue whatever you want but it is not convincing.

Yes and they decreased from Obama to Trump - then increased Trump to Obama.

Years matter because when you have 1/4 of Trump;s term being affected by the coronavirus, this affects average figures. So, it is important to make comparisons that exclude the covid-affected year.

They crossed the border were apprehended and sent back under title 42. Many of that number crossed multiple times and were sent back every time.

The phenomenon of increased repeat crossings under Title 42 has created a distorted picture of the total number of people crossing the border. Through the first nine months of FY 2021, when CBP recorded a total of 1,119,204 border encounters, the number of “unique encounters” (people who have not been taken into custody in the previous 12 months) was 690,718 . By comparison, over the same period in FY 2019, CBP recorded 780,479 border encounters, of which 721,328 were unique encounters—over 30,000 more than in FY 2021.

Thus, even though there have been nearly 340,000 more border encounters in FY 2021 than during the same period in FY 2019, fewer people have newly come to the border than two years earlier (see Figure 3).

Single Adult Migrants Have Accounted for Two Thirds of All Border Encounters Since Title 42

Nearly all single adults are expelled back to Mexico after crossing the border, and that demographic constitutes the largest number of individuals crossing the border multiple times, with some people reporting that they have tried and failed to cross the border dozens of times. The number of single adults apprehended at the border continued to steadily increase after President Biden took office in January 2021. From January to May 2021, driven by seasonal migration patterns on top of the numbers from the previous year, single adult apprehensions rose from 62,560 to 117,397, before failing to 113,383 in June. In total, single adults made up 66% of all apprehensions during the first six months of 2021 (see Figure 4).

This trend of rising single adult apprehensions continued in April and May even as the number of families and children coming to the border dropped both months. Because apprehensions of families and unaccompanied children fell faster in May than single adult apprehensions rose, total apprehensions for the month fell by 1%, representing the first time border apprehensions dropped since spring 2020.

Title 42 remains in effect under Biden and due to many making multiple attempts the actual number of new crossers is less than in 2019.

Stunning support for the cult called liberalism, you people talk about Trump's lack of credibility and ignore the real reality there is no credibility with liberalism as the results never match the rhetoric. Why don't you take a Trip to the TX border instead of letting the left make a fool out of you, have you no pride, what does the chart show from 2020 to the present in 2021?

How do you know illegals didn't vote in the last election, the left told you so? What is an allowable voter ID form in California?
How do you know Russians didn't vote for Trump from Russia? Can you disprove that they didn't?

Well the US economy is picking up. We always have more migrants looking for work in times of a good economy. They went home during the Bush depression. We need the labor.
