I do wonder if Sen Grassley was already on board with this plan for him to take VP Pence's place.

Who knew how much I'd appreciate VP Pence sticking to his guns and going through with the certification ceremony that cemented our next president into office once Joe Biden took his sworn oath to office. Much to DJT's and Rudy Giuliani's chagrin.

Attorney Kenneth Chesebro sent an email to former New York Mayor and Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani on Dec. 13, 2020, with detailed plans that would put then-Vice President Mike Pence and Senate president pro tempore Chuck Grassley, Republican of Iowa, in central roles in the Congress' joint session. The email's subject line read, "Brief notes on 'President of the Senate' strategy."

According to the email – revealed via a recent court filing by the House Jan. 6 Committee in its legal fight against Trump attorney John Eastman – Chesebro wanted Pence to recuse himself from his constitutional position as president of the Senate and the presiding officer over the joint session and claim a "conflict of interest" by way of being a candidate on the ballots in question.

Once recused, the email continued, Grassley or another senior Republican majority member would become the presiding officer of the joint session and begin the election certification.

Too many loose ends for everyone to play dumb. Chuck has some ‘splaining to do.

I want to hear from Mike Pence or someone on his security detail re his actions at the Capitol on 6JAN. Way too many coincidences.

I can hardly wait for the midterms. Hopefully the republicans mount investigation after investigation into the BS we have seen the past 6 years or so. I'm sure the democrats will cry foul, witch hunt, coup and God knows what else.
The democrats constatnt talk of packing the court alone is a threat to democracy. It' has no purpose but pure politics.

Much like your off-topic post. ;)

But alas! Wait until July to check your political pulse and maybe, just maybe, we'll understand your broad-brush gripes then. :)

Pence's top aid, Short, was very concerned about Pence's safety the day before 1/6/22 and contacted the security detail about that. Yeah, it would be interesting to learn if the security detail was on top of what was expected to break loose on 1/6/22.

I don't understand your thinking. The republicans have packed the courts. Do as I say, not as I do. I get it.

You got your year wrong. 2020. Just an FYI.

Once again proving that right wingers only care about attacking the opposition.

Funny that. Ideally “court packing” just removes politics from the Court.

No party could seize control of the court for decades under a single presidency as they just did. Too many members for enough to die/retire in four years.

Besides, they’re not political appointees, right? All impartial and shit. So why are you concerned about the makeup of the court?

Did you just admit that it is and should be a politicized entity? Yer gonna get in trouble!

Indeed.

I never thought I would say this but thank god for bill Barr too. Thank him for refusing to put the weight of the DoJ behind ending democracy.

Barr was a total trump stooge but, abolishing democracy and everything we stand for was too far for even him.

It’s not too far for most Trumpers as this forum has shown us

So, your hope is that in response to uncovering the most unAmerican activities -- undermining presidential elections, you want political retribution upon those that uncovered the insurrection scheme. That's par for the course from your side.

Which is every reason in the world that democrats & independents need to turn out once again in extreme record numbers. These guys will never learn until they're defeated badly. You can believe Biden's policies are bad, but the alternative will be much worse. Republicans can never control anything until they are purged and replaced with moderate humans.

Not only will the good guys need high voter turnout, there also needs to be mechanisms in place to stop the cheat from the T-Right - and there will be tons of cheat in place.

The Dems will need a very exciting younger candidate to draw those voters. Mark my words.

Ghouliani is a traitor and a criminal.

I do hope that the 1/6 Committee brings those facts out about the Rudy and refer him to the DOJ.
