Finally, we all may agree on something - Elon Musk, someone that most of you have praised; Musk was named Time's Person of the Year, which most of you received very positively; Many of you have called or referred to Elon Musk as a true visionary, which today, I absolutely agree with you all on.

When Elon Musk was asked about BIDEN/democrat's BBB, Musk basically "Slammed Biden's Build Back Better Bill".

Musk goes on to say just "DELETE IT - GET RID OF IT. I agree with him 100% - "get rid of Biden's BBB as it is way too expensive and we do not need it - DON'T PASS IT."

Musk also correctly points out that the TRILLIONs of DOLLARS of spending in the bill will need to be renewed annually.

Is one of the wealthiest persons in the world a right-libertarian?

I'm not an Elon Musketeer.

Dump truck.

The premise of your thread, that everyone here loves Elon Musk and believes he is worthy of being named Person of the Year, is faulty at best.

Musk is just another in a long line of billionaires who used public funding to get to the top, only to call for stripping those same opportunities from the next generation. He's an egomaniacal scumbag.

When is the next “space dildo” launch?

Try hard to understand how relying on billionaire Elon Musk's arguments is a failure. Try very hard.

This video reminds me of the odd fascination with T****. They're asking a famous wealthy person how the country should be governed, the answers are very simplistic, and are what many conservatives want to hear.

Oh boy, he capitalized "SLAMS". That means it's serious.

Hmm? Someone who builds cars objecting to a bill that will spend billion$ on mass transit. I wonder why. There couldn't possibly be a connection. Could there be?

that's a stretch. Do you really think that mass transit has any effect on electric car sales?

another person out of touch with the real world and real people which encompasses some from the 1% and a nice collection from the upper middle class then the rest from the 99%.

Completely out of touch .........

Elon Musk is a goddamned idiot and I don't understand how so many people think he's a genius. It's like they think he personally designed electric cars and rockets. In fact, he's been an impediment to Tesla's design process. He actively slowed the development of their self-driving systems by insisting that the cars only use cameras to navigate instead of a combination of sensors. His justification? Humans use only their eyes to drive.

Influential? Sure. He's the richest man in the world. He can buy all the influence he wants. So he qualifies for Time's stupid little award. But can we not act like his opinion on economics is worth even the Tweet it was shat out on?

Of course. It's no stretch at all. Mass transit has an effect on all car sales. Places with the most accessible mass transit always have the least cars on the road. Here in La Gran Manzana, they're actually a liability.

Are you familiar with the history of Los Angeles CA? The oil companies and car manufacturers actually bought up the vast network of trolleys and cable car companies, just so they could run them out of business. It's a fun bit of US history.

Well, if Elon would actually pay some taxes, and stop receiving government largess, I'd listen to him..

Sure, but he’s right about this. Paying people not to work in the current economic climate is exceptionally stupid.

Not that Democrats are going to let being stupid stop them. Well actually it looks like maybe they can’t even get enough Democrats.

They edited that video down to the punchlines. He didn't offer any explanations. You obviously didn't watch the video.

What's really stupid is claiming people are being paid not to work, or that BBB pays people not to work.

That's dizzy, diz.

Other than regular unemployment, there are no special payments going out to folks without a job. And UE numbers are the lowest in half a century with us only being a few million jobs from where we were when the pandemic began.

The difference is that we also have a huge number of people dead who would otherwise be working. 200,000 or more working age Americans are now dead. Many others are either immune compromised or suffering from long term Covid complications to the point where it isn't safe and or prudent for them to be working in public.

Enhanced unemployment has been over for a while now and BBB doesn't bring it back.

Oh, well OK but I’m not sure that iin any way makes my comment wrong.

In general anytime you are

1) Paying someone money
2) Not requiring them to work to get it

You are effectively paying someone not to work. You are subsidizing not working.

When I read “what’s in the BBB” it seems to involve a lot of paying people money and not requiring them to work to get it.

Of course a conservatives would agree with hypocrisy.

Musk's businesses have thrived thanks to government suppport. He would have nothing in SpaceX without government funding and partnership. Tesla benefitted from it as well.

What a typical selfish dick, he has his wealth on the back of government, so the hell with everybody else. He's really is becoming a giant dick

I have no idea what you are specifically objecting to, sorry. Can you name a particular provision?

Here’s what is (I suppose “was” is more appropriate now) in it:

You really don’t see anything in there that involves handing out money to people without requiring them to work?

I have no love for a relentlessly and shamelessly self-aggrandizing union busting tax dodger and carnival barking hype man who literally built his wealth off blood emeralds and billions in government subsidies and bailouts and much of his reputation from habitually claiming the ideas and genius of others as his own (while promoting absurdities like the hyperloop or pretending that other technologies his company developed were novel). His opinion means less than nothing.

He is person of the year in much the same way Stalin or Hitler had been; an individual of insufferable and inescapable notoriety.

Please identify something in particular you are angry about. I'm not going to try and read your mind here. You've identified a very broad criteria. Do you really want me to invent an argument for you? Like, you're against education now, right? Because that's the conclusion I will reach.
