Elon Musk dramatically steps down from DOGE in shock move after Trump expressed private doubts

Most companies today offer no pensions at all. You are part of a dying group that is lucky enough to have one. Pensions are a thing of the past. I also have SS and a 401k but a very meager pension because my company depended on 401ks as our real retirement plan, just as virtually all companies do today. So it pretty much is down to 401ks and SS for everyone today with the 401ks being the main source of retirement income. No one today has a pension that will suffice as you seem to. All these people are losing big time and it doesn’t take long for these funds to take huge hits and permanently damage future and current retirement hopes. The markets will not magically recover if Trump insists on his insane tariff plan. The stock market doesn’t do very well in recessions or depressions. He is putting the entire world on the brink of economic collapse because he and his rich sycophants have a big enough cushion to withstand it.

And your pension doesn’t shield you from inflation or economic collapse. That money will be depleted in a hurry as prices go through the roof.
Why the gloom and doom? What are you basing your predictions on?
Are you an economist of financial analyst attuned to market moves?
Are simply an ordinary anti-Trumper who wants to see Trump fail in what he is trying to do with world trade?

You wrote: "He is putting the entire world on the brink of economic collapse because he and his rich sycophants have a big enough cushion to withstand it."

That sounds like you are echoing the Dems/Liberals party line for want of something concrete to complain about.

I do agree many companies now have limited pension plans. We planned well, above and beyond the knowledge that a someday we would have a pension. Started at very young ages. I do not believe Social Security is going anywheres. I also believe that the market will indeed rebound. 50 countries are already trying to negotiate tariffs and I suspect more will as well.

Musk's DOGE team can access sensitive data for now, appeals court rules

(Reuters) - A divided federal appeals court on Monday put on hold a preliminary injunction that had blocked the U.S. Office of Personnel Management and the Department of Education from turning over sensitive data to Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency.

In a 2-1 vote, the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals stayed the injunction imposed by U.S. District Judge Deborah Boardman in Greenbelt, Maryland, pending an appeal.

Social Security website keeps crashing, as DOGE demands cuts to IT staff

4-7-2025
(Washington Post) Retirees and disabled people are facing chronic website outages and other access problems as they attempt to log in to their online Social Security accounts, even as they are being directed to do more of their business with the agency online.

The website has crashed repeatedly in recent weeks, with outages lasting anywhere from 20 minutes to almost a day, according to six current and former officials with knowledge of the issues. Even when the site is back online, many customers have not been able to sign in to their accounts — or have logged in only to find information missing. For others, access to the system has been slow, requiring repeated tries to get in.

The problems come as the Trump administration’s cost-cutting team, led by Elon Musk, has imposed a downsizing that’s led to 7,000 job cuts and is preparing to push out thousands more employees at an agency that serves 73 million Americans. The new demands from Musk’s U.S. DOGE Service include a 50 percent cut to the technology division responsible for the website and other electronic access.

Many of the network outages appear to be caused by an expanded fraud check system imposed by the DOGE team, current and former officials said. The technology staff did not test the new software against a high volume of users to see if the servers could handle the rush, these officials said.

Even after turning himself into a laughing stock in the gaming world for blatantly cheating, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk hasn't given up the hobby just yet.

During a Saturday livestream of himself playing the free-to-play action RPG Path of Exile 2 (PoE 2) — which allegedly served as an "airborne continuity test" of SpaceX's Starlink on board his private jet — Musk was ruthlessly bullied by other players in the game's chat, as spotted by Polygon.

After repeatedly dying to the game's first boss, Musk rage quit roughly 30 minutes into the stream.

Gamers reportedly accused the billionaire of having "NO FRIENDS" and charge that he "WILL DIE ALONE," while also looking "DUMB AND UGLY." Touché!

............

Musk's personal path of exile from the gaming community kicked off earlier this year when gamers started to catch on that the richest man in the world was secretly paying talented PoE 2 gamers to build up highly-leveled characters that made it look like he was proficient at the RPG — a bizarre scheme Musk later admitted to.

.......

Musk appeared rattled during Saturday's stream, saying little in response to the barrage of mockery. He did, however, use a disgusting slur against the intellectually disabled to take a stab at his haters, a term he has seemingly grown fond of.

"There's a lot of r*tards in the chat," he said at one point.

Like Musk or not. His next target is my favorite.

How'd They Get $20 Million On A $200K Salary?' Asks Musk As He Reveals Congress's 'Strangely Wealthy' Members Are Next In DOGE's Crosshairs

How is this thread still a thing?

Musk was erroneously reported as leaving, yet here we are 04/13/25 and he is STILL doing his work for Trump.

Let it go folks.

he's now leaving early

Elon Musk gave President Trump’s cabinet an update on the cost cutting measures of DOGE, saying he expects $150 billion to be saved by next fall, lower than an initial estimate of $2 trillion. Rep. Melanie Stansbury (D-NM) joins Alex Witt to discuss DOGE and cuts to the FDA.

Musk is doing a great job, and even if only for 130 days he has helped AMERICANS more than most politicians have in their life times!

Lol. Prove it

Lol. Prove it

I'll give it a shot.

1. DOGE found USAID, and the completely crazy things that "slush fund" was funding around the world and even in the USA.

2. DOGE found that Social Security had at least two major problems. 1. The record keeping system was seriously out-of-date. 2. Millions of dollars being paid out in fraudulent claims. There is also a third problem via the issuance of SSAN's to millions of migrants and their access to Medicare/Medicaid. (This was argued by some Liberal scaremongering news pundits as being an attack on actual citizens losing Medicare and Medicaid access).

Elon Musk's days working at the White House are over.

The billionaire Tesla CEO, enlisted by President Donald Trump to cut waste in the federal government, started offboarding from his role Wednesday night, a White House official told NBC News. Musk's move came a day after he criticized a Republican bill to fund much of Trump’s agenda.

Musk commented on his exit Wednesday on X, his social media platform. He called for the “DOGE mission” to become “a way of life throughout the government,” referring to his Department of Government Efficiency initiative.

Here's some of it (y)

The billionaire entrepreneur, who supported Trump’s candidacy with at least $250 million and has worked for his administration as a senior adviser, said he was “disappointed” by what the president calls his “big beautiful bill.”
The legislation includes a mix of tax cuts and enhanced immigration enforcement. While speaking to CBS, Musk described it as a “massive spending bill” that increases the federal deficit and “undermines the work” of his Department of Government Efficiency, known as DOGE. Musk’s comments come as he steps back from his government work, rededicating himself to companies like the electric automaker Tesla and rocket manufacturer SpaceX. He’s also said he’ll reduce his political spending, because “I think I’ve done enough.”
At times, he’s seemed chastened by his experience working in government. Although he hoped that DOGE would generate $1 trillion in spending cuts, he’s fallen far short of that target.
The federal bureaucracy situation is much worse than I realized,” he told The Washington Post. “I thought there were problems, but it sure is an uphill battle trying to improve things in D.C., to say the least.”

He's backing off and making excuses for his irresponsible, arrogant "chainsaw" methods. He's right on "the big beautiful bill" being bullshit tho.

It will not be long before the orange traitor turns on him.

I think DOGE supporters (past and current) will eventually conclude Musk did more harm than good to the effort to reduce waste, fraud, and abuse.

It factually did no such things.

Musk failed miserably and illegally probed into private citizen information that he had no official clearance to do. There should be an investigation of what he and his minions did as soon as Trump is ousted and the DOJ reruns to doing its real job and not being used as a tool of Trump’s retribution. Musk helped no one, including himself. Trump used him as he does with all his “friends” and Musk fell for it. He is now more hated because of his association with Trump.

There are no real DOGE supporters because it was never a real thing. Trump has injected more waste, fraud and abuse into government than any other president in history. But at least you realize the harm he has done.

No problem. He did what he was hired to do: He set up DOGE.

They can continue without him.
Continue what, exactly? Have they achieved anything aside from breaking the law? Any details of his "fantastic" work available which don't emanate from the White House Barbie and her lies?

I realize Musk has burned his bridges within the Trump Administration.
