If we are going to open up drilling to benefit the American people, how would allowing oil drilled on federal lands to be sold overseas benefit the American people? Propose whatever you like. The Biden Administration is not proposing that. If they would increase oil production, I'd be happy to condition it on the oil from those leases be earmarked for domestic consumption. No problem. As would almost all Trump supporters. But let's not pretend Biden is proposing anything of the kind.

Of course it benefits Americans - lower fuel prices, lower trade deficit, faster growing economy - that all helps Americans, and so would the ability to cut Russia off via sanctions prohibiting the purchase of Russian oil, because the dependence on imported oil renders us more vulnerable to the vicissitudes of international politics, like what we are seeing in Ukraine.
