Elon Musk calls for increase in US oil, gas production to combat Russia

YAY!

A celebrity endorsement!

If a celebrity says it's a good idea, then it MUST be a good idea, right?

Celebrities are rich and famous.
Being rich and famous means they are ethical, smart, knowledgeable, and wise too.
This celebrity isn't a movie star. He has a couple of relevant bachelors degrees, so he's not exactly unqualified.

Developing wind, solar, and hydroelectric will also help to reduce our need for oil imports. It may not be as catchy as "drill baby drill", but it's much more effective in the long term.
Long term doesn't help the situation at the moment. LOL

They could do more to get the news out in front of the American people.
They have CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, Washington Post, NYTimes, etc. etc. etc. all of whom like nothing more than boosting Democrats and trashing Republicans.

What "news" do you think exists which is just not making it out to the American people? This should be good.... lol

Long term doesn't help the situation at the moment. LOL
But neither does drilling for oil. All will take time, but wind solar and hydroelectric are much more sustainable in the long term.

The idea that "they have news agencies" is a conspiracy theory. Those are independent outfits.

Its a good question, but its obvious that the PR is lacking.

right, right, gotchya.

He's an "expert"

sure thing there

If you say so.

Long term won't stop Putin.

New wells can be delivering oil to refineries in one month if Biden would remove all hurdles.

How would this help Americans if that oil is exported to other countries?

can someone tell Elon to call the Oil Company CEOs.

now, i realize the Oil Companies are making a mint off this period but maybe Elon can convince them (who are not controlled by our government) to pump more oil.

LOL - all those are indpendent outfits, right? Except foxnews?

Perhaps my wording was not clear. Why should the American taxpayer sell oil from federal lands that the oil companies then sell to the highest bidder OVERSEAS? If we are going to open up drilling to benefit the American people, how would allowing oil drilled on federal lands to be sold overseas benefit the American people? We can ALL see how it benefits the oil companies...
So that we can produce more oil and other fuels than we need, so we can become a net exporter, again, rather than a net importer, and so we could simply cut Russia off with a sanction that we (and all other NATO and European countries) would stop buying Russian oil, thus reducing demand for Russian oil considerably. Massive economic benefits to being a net exporter of oil https://www.aogr.com/web-exclusives...tates-to-benefit-from-shipping-crude-overseas

BEing a net exporter results in lower energy prices – also those due to supply growth – rejuvenated investment in resource development, processing and transportation. It also has helped U.S. refining, petrochemicals and manufacturing, which have weathered the storm of U.S. trade restrictions and a strong U.S. dollar that made exporting U.S. goods more challenging.

You throwing out the "celebrity" label on a man that's in a closely related business, with technical knowledge.
Musk's comments get attention solely because of his celebrity status.
There're no other people out there with a couple of bachelor's degrees "in related" fields getting their quotes pushed nationwide because of their expertise.

Musk quotes are not appearing in the newsfeeds because Musk has special insight as someone who specializes in international economics of petro-products.

LMAO.. How does exporting oil from federal lands help the American people? Cutting off exporting oil from federal lands would increase supply in the US.

He didn't "cut off exporting." He cut off "drilling." Are you not getting this?

How does it help Americans? The same reasons advanced by the Obama Administration - https://obamawhitehouse.archives.go...il-strategy-increase-economic-growth-and-redu - - increase economic growth, reduce economic vulnerability- more jobs, faster growth, lower trade deficit.

I've attempted to explain many times but some in here just can't comprehend. The following is at a 10 year old reading level so maybe it will help you.
You're welcome.

"Similar to the stock market, which involves trading investments in various companies, people also trade in commodities at financial markets.

They purchase "futures" -- a sort of bet on whether a commodity will increase in price at a later date. Once locked into a futures contract, the buyer will get his or her commodity at that price, regardless of whether the market price has changed or not later down the line. These futures are traded in the New York Mercantile Exchange (or NYMEX), as well as the International Petroleum Exchange."

The issue isn't his resume'. The issue is whether he's correct or not. He is correct.

The AGW cult needs to snap out if it for at least a little while. Even Musk see’s what needs to happen at this point in history.

“Hate to say it, but we need to increase oil & gas output immediately," Musk tweeted Friday. "Extraordinary times demand extraordinary measures."

“sustainable energy solutions simply cannot react instantaneously to make up for Russian oil & gas exports."

i posted this for anyone but can you, personally, tweet Elon...

I get it.. I am proposing prohibiting exporting oil from federal lands.. It benefits the oil companies only.. It does not benefit Americans... Call the oil businesses bluff..

I understand how it works today and those who are in the industry (wink, wink) benefit by extracting oil from federal lands and sell on the global market. What you haven't been able to explain is how this benefits the guy filling up his gas tank in Omaha TODAY... We all understand how the US oil industry loves pissing all over the American consumer...

Propose whatever you like. The Biden Administration is not proposing that. If they would increase oil production, I'd be happy to condition it on the oil from those leases be earmarked for domestic consumption. No problem. As would almost all Trump supporters. But let's not pretend Biden is proposing anything of the kind.

Of course it benefits Americans - lower fuel prices, lower trade deficit, faster growing economy - that all helps Americans, and so would the ability to cut Russia off via sanctions prohibiting the purchase of Russian oil, because the dependence on imported oil renders us more vulnerable to the vicissitudes of international politics, like what we are seeing in Ukraine.

A lower price benefits that guy when he fills his tank.

Maybe you'd rather have Hunter give a few words, since he was on the board of a energy company?
