I've been downloading some great e-books lately, but the site I usually go to has some serious limitations!

Does anyone here know a good e-book website that has a good database? I'm talking free, as in torrents or direct links. There are also some specific medical texts that I'd like to look at.

I enjoy the hell out of ebooks, and have quite a collection. I also just got done writing a program in Delphi that turns a directory into a virtual library. You choose a category (politics, science fiction, etc), pick a book, and the program automatically chooses the reader to use, and loads the book. It also has an internet function, complete with favorites. In addition, you can choose a library on a local computer, or go to the main library on a home network and pick an ebook to read from there. I have it working on both my main computer, and on my tablet PC that is connected to my own home network.

Extensive selection, mostly old books and a couple dozen free Grateful Dead Concerts for downloading.
You'll find a lot ... from Clausewitz's On War to British magazines.
Terrific stuff.

Scribd
Intelligent Investor, The Atlas Shrugged, Dummies series... and all manner of contemporary books can be found here.
