Dukakis vs. Trump ????

It’s thought that Dukakis’ stunt helped sink his campaign, I don’t think there is a stunt that Trump could pull that would lose him any support.

That's a good question.
I honestly think his supporters would just claim it was fake news even if it was on live TV.

It’s thought that Dukakis’ stunt helped sink his campaign, I don’t think there is a stunt that Trump could pull that would lose him any support.
Of course not. Trump himself said his supporters were so stupid they would never hold him accountable for anything. He proves that on a daily basis.

Dukakis tanked his campaign while Trump’s is sizzling?

It takes brains and perspective to get this, but I'll risk it anyway...........

True. Dukakis didn't build a cult.

Look at teh hate in your post for the people you are talking about.

And then ask yourself, the people I am talking about, why would they ever side with me.

Dukakis wearing a CVC helmet that was too large for his head. It made him look goofy and drew a lot of laughs in the print and broadcast media. It was done by design by the commander of the facility who was rewarded by the state Republican Party to become the state’s adjutant general.

Just more evidence that the electorate so unfit to pick leaders.

It just shows that it’s not a new problem.

Since MAGA Trumpers, his avid supporters make up approximately a quarter of the electorate give or take a point or two. Trump is currently at 48% in the polls, where do those who intend to vote for Trump come from who aren’t avid Trumpers or his MAGA supporters? They’re voting for Trump for other reasons over Harris. That’s roughly half of all those who intend to vote for Trump. Their reasons for voting for Trump, get completely ignored as they get put into the MAGA Trump supporter category which they’re not.

I’d say number one reason among the non-MAGA Trumpers intending to vote for him is they view Biden and his administration which VP Harris is part of have done a lousy job of governing. Only 40% of all Americans approve of the job Biden has done as president. 56% disapprove.

These voters just want someone else or another party than the democrats to be in charge of the government in hopes whoever that may be, Trump, the republicans in this case will do a better job. They’re not voting for Trump per se as wanting him as president, they are voting against the job the Biden administration has done over the last 4 years. Big difference in being a Trumper and voting against someone or party you think has done a lousy job.

Ideology is another reason. Conservatives for the most part aren’t going to vote for a liberal, progressive as a progressives, liberals aren’t going to vote for a conservative. You don’t want someone with the opposite political ideology, philosophy leading this country, taking this country in a direction that is abhorrent to you. Many conservatives don’t like Trump, but he’s not a liberal or progressive democrat. He's the only choice they have.

Then lastly, there’s party loyalty. Most republicans won’t even consider voting for a democrat as most democrats don’t consider voting for a republican no matter who the candidates are. There are many other reasons a non-MAGA Trumper would vote for Trump over Harris, but I’d say these are the big three. About half of Trump’s intended vote are coming from those who think the Biden administration has done a bad job of governing or ideological, political philosophy differences along with party loyalty. If Trump received only the avid Trumpers vote, he’d get around 25%, not the 48% he is currenting residing in the polls.

I agree only if you're talking about maga. If you're talking about everybody else he's lost lots of support.

Look at teh hate in your post for the people you are talking about.
??? what hate??? I just give facts, and perhaps you think that is "hate"..........??
And then ask yourself, the people I am talking about, why would they ever side with me.
???? who cares who sides with me??? I don't. I'm just trying to understand why they do it......

??? can they be THAT blind about whom they are supporting????
They are, at best, ignoring his ethics/morality, and the lack of references for the job in the first place......= selling their souls.
I have not seen a rational/responsible reason to support Trump-----can you tell me even one???

Biden is ranked in the top 20 presidents all-time by ALL historians..........................what the heck is wrong with the way Biden governed??????????? BTW, VPs have almost no role)

They should already know that TRUMP is not fit

yes----they sell their souls.
Many conservatives are announcing support for Trump-----or haven't you kept up???
Then lastly, there’s party loyalty. Most republicans won’t even consider voting for a democrat as most democrats don’t consider voting for a republican no matter who the candidates are.
Then they are small-minded.

Okay, but dissatisfaction with the current administration regardless of who heads that administration, who the president is, that is always a big reason for the way lots of people vote. At least those who aren’t party loyalist who would vote for Atilla the Hun if he happened to be their party’s candidate.

As what’s wrong with how Biden has governed, ask the 57% of all Americans who disapprove of his overall job performance. As the 59% who disapprove on how Biden and his administration have handled the economy or the 63% who think Biden has failed on inflation. Ask the 57% who disapprove on Biden’s approach to crime and the 63% of all Americans who think Biden and company has let illegal immigration run wild. It’s how all Americans view how Biden has governed at election time, not a bunch of historians. Besides, most historians will tell you they need 20 years after a president leaves office to rate him fairly accurate. That time gives the historians time to gauge a president’s policies, how they affected this nation long term.

Actually, I’m amazed that Harris is ahead of Trump in today’s polling when one looks at the above. The only reason for that I can see is her opponent is Trump. I firmly believe almost any other republican than Trump would be leading Harris by around 10 points. Trump is one mighty disliked individual by a majority of Americans. Yet many of those who dislike Trump are willing to vote for him if that means a change in the administration who governs this country. This is a fact of political reality. It boils down to vote for the status quo. Harris or vote for change, Trump. As asinine as that may sound, Trump is the change candidate this year just like Biden was in 2020. Keep in mind, each individual looks at this election through a different set of eyes.

They HAVE been asked.....they are fools. Historians are the experts, not buddies down at the local watering hole....

they have criteria, even for short term

Dukakis was a politician vying for a term in elected office.

Trump is the head of a religious cult seeking to appoint him as a king.

Very different situations.

Trump could shoot a child of MAGA parents on 5th Avenue and they would still vote for him. There is nothing Trump can do to deter MAGA from voting for him. Just ask Ted Cruz.
