drug laws that take property are fascism.

Drug crimes are the only ones that result in property being siezed and kept by the police department. This is wrong and breeds coruption. I can be a rapist,bank robber,molester or anything else bad you can think of and you don't get your house taken away but if you give the people what they want and sell them a product that should be legal then you get your car and house taken.These laws are corrupt and hypocritical. They must change now.
 
Corruption and hypocrisy are the American way and most rapists, murderers etc. don't have any money while drug offenders do. Money is the most important thing in the world so it's only natural that these unique laws apply.

Or they could legalize and stop these draconian laws.The war on drugs is lost and has been since 1970.

If people stopped breaking the law, and instead campaigned for it to be changed, it's probably happen a lot faster.
 

The fact is people love drugs and dealers are only giving the people what they want. These draconian laws have not won the war on drugs and along with mandatoty sentencing have to go now in spite of what the law and order morons say.

What if the law is wrong like the drug laws are? A thief violates your right to own property but a drug dealer violates no rights of others.
 
Are you kidding? The drug war has millions of incarcerated little money-makers for private prison operators. Cartels pay billions to DEA agents. Without drug laws, the cash flow would be interrupted and you'd have to let all those prisoners out.

You don't have to break any laws to have your property seized under asset forfeiture. All that is necessary is that a person be accused of dealing in drugs. He doesn't have to be arrested or indicted, let alone convicted, and his property can be taken and sold.

And, as long as the citizenry of this great and "free" nation allow the Constitution to be thrown on the ground and trampled in this way, it will be.
 

You are preaching to the choir my friend. These laws are fascism and have done nothing to win the war on drugs.

Just because it's wrong doesn't mean you're allowed to break it. You campaign to change it. Much more productive than killing yourself with heroin illegally.

It used to be legal to beat your wife. Did that make it OK to beat your wife? The law is not always right and that is what makes law and order rednecks look like the morons they are.

You're missing the point. I'm not saying it's a just law, I'm saying that just because it's an injust law doesn't mean you have carte blanc to break it.

You're missing the point. We realize that it's illegal. This crime however is being treated completely different from every other crime. As Dittohead pointed out, they don't even need to convict you to seize your property. Yet child rapists don't have this happening to them. There's clearly a disconnect.

You don't have to be selling drugs to run afoul of asset forfeiture laws. All you have to do is be accused by someone of selling drugs. that is what sets it apart from other laws and makes it unconstitutional. It is depriving citizens of property without due process of law.

If an 8th. grader in civics class couldn't tell why asset forfeiture is unconstitutional, he deserves to flunk, yet the Congress of the United States has left this one on the books for years, and the citizenry doesn't rise up in protest. It's a frightening attack on basic liberty.
 
I am not sure exactly why I am bringing this up, but what the heck...in Indiana if you poach a buck anything, I mean any personal property involved, can and is confinscated when caught. The truck, shot gun, garage, freezer, house what every can and will be taken. So drugs and deer get your stuff confiscated.

That is much easer said than done. Once something becomes law and the status quo the law and order rednecks will fight for the status quo to the death and will call anyone weak on crime who thries to change the law no matter how unjust.
 

I forgot about that law. It is that way here in Washington too. I stand corrected. Thank you. Oh by the way what the hell is going on in Indiania? Is it really as redneck as Oklahoma or Kansas?.
 

In asset forfeiture, the money is presumed to be the governments and the burden strictly on you to prove it is not - and at your expense such as attorney fees to try to prove if. If you win, you do not get your costs of court or attorney fees back. In some cities, they now take as little as $200, knowing you have no way to even fight it. Basically, until you get to big money, the police and government can take anything from you they want to.

If the Sheriff likes your car, he can just seize it, declare it now a police vehicle, and drive it around himself anytime he wants to. And, of course, any money in your wallet. For gas money.
 
I guess requesting said individual to be reasonable and at least attempt a single clear and well written post today is just asking too damn much.

Maybe tomorrow will be a better formed day?
