The traitors, the free states were the victors. Of course they are not going to put themselves on trial for treason. How stupid. That they couldn't even put Jeff Davis on trial as traitor guilty of treason, shows that it wasn't the South guilty of treason,. It was the North. Just go ahead and admit it What the hell, the truth doesn't matter. Glory, glory...hallelujah.

Your argument is moot then. You cant get away with your dumbass double standard here.

What double standard? The North won the military victory. They had the power. They then determined what was wrong or right. No law to come against them. They could change the law when they liked, which they did. They could ignore the law when they like, which they did.

From Abe Lincoln in a speech given to Congress on Jan. 12, 1848:

Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valubale, a most sacred right--a right which we hope and believe is to liberate the world. Nor is this right confined to cases in which the whole people of an existing government may choose to exercise it. Any portion of such people, that can, may revolutionize, and make their own of so much of the territory as they inhabit."

What a hypocirte. Was Abe lying here? Or was he lying when he refused to let the South go. Gee, either way, he was lying. Glory, glory...hallelujah.

No, the military victory was decided when the North won. There was never any surreneder of the South.

Please lie again.

The conclusion of the American Civil War commenced with the articles of surrender agreement of the Army of Northern Virginia on April 9, at Appomattox Court House, by General Robert E. Lee and concluded with the surrender of the CSS Shenandoah on November 6, 1865, bringing the hostilities of the American Civil War to a close.[1] Legally, the war did not end until a proclamation by President Andrew Johnson on August 20, 1866, when he declared "that the said insurrection is at an end and that peace, order, tranquillity, and civil authority now exist in and throughout the whole of the United States of America."

The double standard is your insistence the lack of prosecution means there was no treason. You are as plain as day.

No. The South seceded peacefully. The North refused to let the South go. The North wanted the war. Not the South.

Lees
Attacks on US troops on US federal territory show otherwise....very clearly. The South’s secession was anything but peaceful.

Oh really? Someone must have forgotten to tell all those Southern Fire-Eaters 😂

Once the South seceded, they were out of the Union. The South then was no longer under the protection of the Constitution. But the North was still under the Constitution. And the North continued to violate it.

The South by seceding peacefully, did not vilolate the Constitution.

Lees
Nowhere in the Constitution does it say it’s protections are extended to traitors...which is what the South was.

Lincoln was dead. Again, why are you afraid of my question. See again, post #(412). Please answer.

Your question has been repeatedly answered: their lives were spared, and they were not all hung or shot for treason, which the North had every right to do.

Edit: oops, just saw mod message. Guess you’ll have to make a new thread if you want to continue spewing Lost Cause talking points.

Of course not. They were slaves.

I would have turned her in. She was a criminal against the Constitution, the law of the land. And now this yankee made generation worships and adores her as some great person in the history of our country. Nothing but a criminal. But that certainly is consistent. The law breakers won the war. Thus why shouldn't they elevate and worship their fellow criminals.

Great. New experience. Never discussed politics with someone who approves of slavery. But I have to ask, were you a slave, would you try to escape north?

O
Peacefully seizing Federal buildings, property, naval yards, forts, at least one mint, etc.

While peacefully firing on Federal shipping.

And peacefully shelling Fort Sumter until it surrendered.

Yep.

That is a bad faced lie.
Might have been interesting to see what would have happened if Ft Sumter wasn’t attacked.

It's a revolution if you win. It's a pack of filthy traitors if you lose.

And the South is a pack of losers, really.

The end of the War is not synonymous with the South surrendering. Show me the surrender papers signed by the U.S. and Jeff Davis.

Oh there was treason alright. Just not from the South. The treason lay at the feet of the North.. Which is why they feared to try Jeff Davis. Which is why they let him go.

The South seceded peacefully. The first 7 States giving their secession ordinances to Congress and resuming it's powers back from the Federal government. The later border States would secede due to Lincolns demand of them to provide troops to help attack those 7 and force them back into the Union.

A good title in this 'History' arena would be 'Who is Traitor, North or South'?

Lees

Since you won't....

My statement involved moving this thread from post (34) on, to another thread in the History section. Which I have no authority or ability to do. But a moderator does.

So, if any continue to respond to this thread I will continue to respond.
