Dow down another 1500 points Sunday evening.

I've a Martin T1K Uke that was built in Mexico, it's a fine instrument.
The whole reason that Martin is able to sell entry level instruments is because they are built across the border.
This is no longer the early 90's where they can build entry level guitars here and sell them for $700.
My SC-13e was just under $1500.00

Ah, I take it you're doing a custom order?

I'm buying a regular production item, except I'm not ready to go today.

I've been saying it for years: This iteration of Fender Corp is now first and foremost a marketing company. But these tariffs are going to skew Fender's market-segmenting strategy.

The current Player II line is MiM, and considered a pretty good value (even if they're not my cup of tea). I suppose that will change. A lot of entry-level and value-level players are going to get hurt.

I have no idea what will happen to the American made products. But my guess is everything will go up.
I wonder what this will do to Sweetwater? Are you familiar with Sweetwater in Ft. Wayne, Indiana? Awesome store for guitars and anything music related! Also has live performers and a cafeteria. And lessons but I took them from somewhat else I started with over 30 years ago.

How long is Fox going to pretend that nothing's going on with the market?

No custom order but the mahogany and rosewood used to build guitars are imported and the tuners, electronics, wiring and plastics for pickguards are many times imported so the cost of the instruments will rise due to the tariffs of the imported materials.

As for Fender, I had a Road Worn 50's Tele that was built in Mexico, I loved that guitar, I only parted with it because I needed money.
These days I'm hooked on Nash Guitars for my Tele fix

It may or may not be justified at this point. I've seen retailers take advantage of inflation and increase the price even though they still got the product at wholesale prices before their costs went up.

My thoughts exactly.

But either-way I wasn't sure if I was going to move on it this spring? Or, wait another year? So, I think I'll sit this year out - which I was leaning towards anyway.

Holy shit, that's US built prices.
My US made 000-15 goes for $1699.00
The US vs Mexican prices are starting to blur.

Edit, I'm sure it's a nice guitar, but for the specs, the price seems steep.

The Dow is only 50 stocks. Many companies are operating internationally. We've had a 50% drop before, and we're still here. The price of stocks is what investors are willing to pay for ownership in the company. Revenue has not stopped yet, we do not have unemployment at 50%. When we get to that point, I will be concerned with the continuation of the current republic.
First, there are 30 stocks in the Dow, not 50.
Second, as my thesis professor, the late Harry Markowitz, who won the Nobel prize for proving, one can mimic the market with a handful of stocks.
Third, while “revenue has not stopped” companies are anticipating lower future revenue due to the insane tariffs.

Today's action is winding down and it looks to close down 700 or so. The talk of EU tariff negotiation helped stop orange Monday.

When people like you support arresting people and disappearing them to foreign prisons without trials, it's pretty easy to start projecting that behavior onto others. I'm guessing projecting this sort of evil onto others helps you sleep at night.
MS-13 gang member. Going to the SC. Liberal judges aren’t president.

You sound unbiased. Lol
Worthless biased stupid forecast
You can’t take satire. My post would get me arrested when a progressive totalitarian like Starmer takes over in America.

Yeah, that's what I was alluding to.
The nation would be facing the ideological totalitarianism the left keeps falsely accusing others of. 🤷‍♂️
Starmer being a perfect example. Bet zero, card banned, free speech called hate speech getting you two years.

Sorry 30 stocks. An even smaller less relevant sample.

Why the Dow Doesn’t Work
The Dow, despite being the index you hear about the most, doesn’t actually tell you much. If it’s up or down a lot, it can tell you that US large companies had a good or bad day, but that’s about it. There are two reasons for this:

It only looks at a small number of really big US companies
It measures them poorly
Let’s look at these issues in turn

You are unbelievably fortunate to have access to Sweetwater. They've become a national treasure!

Since I'm looking at a new production item, I'll probably use Guitar Center as there are several locations near me and I have a decent relationship with the team at one of them. It's easy to hate GC, but they vary - and this one has a good long-time manager and he built a stable like-minded team around him.

I'm in South Bend on occasion for ND related activities, and the next time I head over I've promised myself to see the place (Sweetwater).

I've done lower-level mail order purchases from them, but have yet to go there in-person or do a major purchase. But, I'm dying to go!

I've actually been kinda' looking at their Mod Shop Princeton Reverb, where they add a Mid Control to a standard production 65 Princeton Reverb and maintain full warranty.

I've always wanted a Princeton, but knew I'd miss having a Mid (& Master Volume control). Well now, it seems I can get the Mid Control at least.

Check it out:

And feast your eyes on this baby!

You know more than a Nobel-prize-winning economist? Care to prove it?

He wouldn't use the Dow as a sample. Why the snit and not an adult discussion.
