The Trump family's latest venture, an "America first" mobile network and self-branded phone will "eventually" be built in the U.S., leaving questions about where the new "T1" phone will be manufactured ahead of its launch later this year. In an interview on Monday, Eric Trump, vice president of the Trump Organization, said that it was possible for the phones to be built in the U.S., and that "eventually all the phones will be built in the United States." In the announcement, the Trump Organization described the T1 phone as "proudly designed and built in the United States." However, this claim has already been met with scrutiny from tech and supply chain experts, who doubt whether a phone could be domestically manufactured in this timeframe or at the advertised price point. Nilay Patel, co-founder of technology news website The Verge, told CNBC: "I don't think they're going to sell a phone that has anything to do with the United States on any kind of timeline that makes sense." He added that the only phone which could be sold for $499 by September would be "undoubtedly a rebranded Chinese Android phone."

"Barring miracles, building a smartphone entirely in the U.S. by September is all but impossible," Tinglong Dai, professor at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, told Newsweek. "The U.S. doesn't currently have the supply chain to support that. We don't make key components like screens, memory chips, or camera modules here at scale," he added. "Even final assembly would be a stretch without significant lead time and preparation." Tinglong Dai, professor at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, told Newsweek: "If the claim is 'Made in USA,' the [Federal Trade Commission] has a very strict standard: all or virtually all parts and processing must be domestic." "That rules out any meaningful reliance on foreign suppliers, which makes the claim unrealistic under current conditions," he added. "The Trump Organization's 'built in America' language isn't an official designation, so that may be the direction they're taking."

What the Trump Organization will be selling for $499 is a Chinese Android smartphone knockoff. Manufactured and assembled in China. Will these Chinese imports be subject to Trump's tariffs? Or will Trump order a special tariff carve-out for his phones?

Trump bitches all the time about Apple iPod phones being assembled in China, and then he does the exact same thing. Trump to American business: "Do as I say, not as I do."

So little Suzie gets less dolls for Christmas to sacrifice for this country, but Trump, whose already made 100's of millions selling access and pardons can't be bothered to sacrifice profit by building in America.

It blows my mind there are people in this country that love this guy and act like he really cares about anything other than staying out of jail and fleecing as many people as possible. He has a con artist mentality, always has and always will.

It's a scam.

Ivanka has 19 Chinese trademarks she received after daddy became president.
Jared received two billion dollars from the Saudis.
TACO got a jet from Qatar
And then....Trump company strikes Qatari golf resort deal in a sign it’s not holding back from foreign business
The family also has a stake in a cybercurrency trading platform called World Liberty Financial as Trump has pushed for less regulatory oversight on cybercurrencies.

Apparently, its a $149 Chinese phone thats painted gold and branded with Trump, and sold on a plan thats about twice as expensive as Mint or Boost.

Fleecing the rubes, yet again.

You mean we're no longer worried about "the big guy?"

I would think that the attorneys for T-Mobile are sharpening their pencils and studying-up on trademark laws as we post. Use of the name Trump Mobile shouldn’t be an issue, but if Trump Mobile starts taking shortcuts like calling their phone T1 or using “T” anything to tout their service, I would expect a swift lawsuit against them for trademark infringement.

You just know those nefarious grifters, the Trump boys and their backers, are angling to confuse dimwitted consumers about their service while riding on the back of a large, reputable firm in T-Mobile.

It will be interesting to see how many morons will fall for the latest Trump scam.

It would seem to me that if they want to con someone, they should at least try to make their con convincing. For some reason the phrase "dumb and dumber" is crossing my mind.
